We visited this resort as a girls trip. The price was good and the resort is very picturesque with four lovely beaches and a stunning infinity pool. The pool however felt slimy and in need of a cleaning all week. We were in garden cottage number 86 with an ocean view. Two double size beds, AC worked well. Some of the garden rooms have absolutely no view as they faced our cottage. I found that the food lacked variety and every restaurant is open air. For breakfast one day I asked for the eggs Benedict and my first bite I was crunching egg shells so that was a turn off. I had a cappuccino every morning and one day I fished flies out my coffee. After a good rain the bar at the beach restaurant was swarming with flies. I ordered a ginger ale and it was not carbonated at all so not sure what I got.  Mosquitoes or sand fleas were brutal at night, some people had terrible reactions. Bug spray is provided in the room, you will need it. Now for the positive, shout out to Brad on the beach, Tev who’s always smiling, David the bartender and the girl with the beautiful voice at the infinity pool. All the staff were lovely and hard working. Note that while there is a lifeguard on duty there is no motorized boats to actually rescue anyone. One couple took out the hobie cat and had to drag it to shore on Eden beach and it took two lifeguards to bring it back. We spoke to a beach vendor selling excursions and when we were still thinking about it he got pretty aggressive in that he approached me at our cottage and wanted to wait until my cousin came out. That was when we decided not to book with him. This resort is not mobility friendly since to get to the buffet restaurant it’s a lot of stairs and to get to the pool it’s up hill. Entertainment was good and we met a lot of nice people from around the world.  All in all we’d go back hopefully the food improves.

Great trip with room for improvements

What makes this place is the mostly friendly staff and the location.
From our arrival the positives were very noticeable the reception we got from Ronel the bell service concierge was out of this world, the welcome was truly Caribbean and his smiles genuinely great and made us feel immediately at home. The room we had was right on the beach and it was spotless, clean with all the amenities we were looking for thanks Claudia. David at the bar another perfect gentleman and made us lovely cocktails at the beach bar. Our experience with Mario was out of this world, he was professional and so pleasant to interact with, he was one of the highlights during our stay. The food was ok and yes we know it’s the Caribbean but the presentation could have been better, but it was mostly tasty. One downside was that anytime we interacted with the front desk staff especially the older lady, she was very abrupt and didn’t seem too happy to give great service we stayed away. Fenton at the water activity center is a vibe and we had a great time with him on the hobbie. Really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to go back to meet up with the awesome mostly friendly staff.

Great Getaway

Or another reason is this hotel has a lot of customers who unfortunately don't know any better. If you've stayed at a good hotel/resort the difference in quality is night and day. This is by far the worst experience we've ever had at a resort. See below for details of my review:

Room: We stayed at the royal palm beach room, which is according to the staff, their best room. Immediately upon arrival the room looked rushed and unfinished, there were paint marks everywhere and there was absolutely no attention to detail. There was paint on the counters, towel racks, faucets, etc. There were stains on the sheets and they had to come and change them. Then another night there was another stain on our mattress that looked like lipstick or make up, absolutely disgusting. The showerhead in the bathroom was falling off the wall and they had to replace it while we were staying there. The pressure of the water in the shower was non existent and it never got hot. We told them this several times but they didn't seem to care or do anything to fix the issue. Also we completely lost water one night which is completely unacceptable. This caused us to be unable to flush toilets, etc. The shower is SOOOO small its pathetic. I'm not big by any means and could barely fit in there. Also whoever designed this bathroom was probably whacked out on drugs or just lazy because it makes no sense. Every time you take a shower water gets everywhere. If I Also the ceiling fan above the the bed had to replaced because it stopped working. Again, for the price we paid all of this is completely unacceptable and embarrassing. The only thing they did was offer us to switch to another room which was definitely a step down in terms of location, views, etc. so we obviously didn't choose that. 

Food: Same food every night, we had a hair in our food one night. The only food that was somewhat decent was lunch at the beach. The drinks by the beach were absolutely disgusting. We had to walk up to the main restaurants bar to get a decent drink. Huge lack of variety, all buffet style which is bizarre and disgusting.  The food was legit barely edible and we were extremely disappointed in the quality, lack of variety, etc. They also didn't know how to use the espresso machine which they were learning how to do while we stayed there. They also ran out of bottled water one day...how does a resort run out of water lol.

Beach: There was barely a beach here, very few lounge chairs and unless you're up super early you're not getting one. There was only like 15 lounge chairs lol it's a joke. Also there was a beach right in front of our room but what they failed to mention or tell you is that you can't really swim there because its all rocky, so that's awesome...this barely counts as a beach.

Pool: The pool area was the nicer area of the resort but still not nearly enough chairs.

Service: Most of the staff, especially by the beach bar were not friendly or welcoming. They seemed like we were inconveniencing them by asking for anything. There were a few exceptions but it took extremely long to get the food and one day they completely forgot about us and we had to reorder after waiting for 1.5 hours. again it's the lack of details as well. Most of the time we sat down we weren't offered anything to drink, there were lack of plates, glasses, utensils, etc. and we had to ask for them.

While we were checking out we also saw a few people that looked like they were switching resorts mid stay that's how bad it was. After all of this inconvenience we had to ask for some sort of compensation. Their resolution was refunding us for 1 night....very unprofessional.  They're probably going to respond to this and say oh we're not a 5 star luxury resort blah blah. That's irrelevant when you're still charging a lot of amount of money for unfinished rooms, dirty rooms, bad food, and horrific service. This resort was so bad we found ourselves close to checking out early and changing our flights. I've never wanted to leave a resort so bad and return home. Also when they said we'd get a refund one night we were told it'd take up to 5-7 business days. They tried to pull a fast one and not refund us. We had to contact them again and then they claimed they expedited it and we finally got our refund, more than two weeks later. I'm 100% certain that if we didn't contact them to follow up, we wouldn't have gotten our refund. Overall, definitely avoid this place unless you don't know any better or want to stay at a dirty place and get ripped off.

Not What It Seems - Horrific

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the scenery was beautiful and the staff were very pleasant and service oriented. I was impressed especially impressed with the bartender David down at the beach bar. In addition to making good drinks he  was very attentive and provided excellent customer service. I would recommend and definitely would stay at Hawksbill Resort again.

My stay at this hotel was super relaxing, The customer service was great with friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to David the beach bar bartender he knows his job well. He went above and beyond to make my birthday experience extra special. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely re-visit.
