Absolutely loved Hodges Bay, I don’t really understand the negative reviews.  Okay the cushions on the beds were a bit tatty but that one tiny negative does not detract from the overall excellence.  Every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful and our room right onto the beach was amazing. Can’t comment on service to the sunbeds because it doesn’t sit right with me to lay in the sun and summon staff to me.  We go to the bar and eat food at a table. Having said that, the staff at the beach bar always came to offer us drinks.  
The beach was great, very little seaweed and nice warm and clear sea.  Prickly Pear was awesome, one of the best beach days we’ve had.
Hodges is a 4.5/5 not quite a 5 due to needing a bit of a spruce up. Had 1 meal from the all day menu it was ok, but not great but we rarely eat in hotels cos most times it’s ordinary food at extraordinary prices.  Go to Dawne’s for lunch or Cecilia’s for dinner.

Hodges’s Bay Resort was an amazing place! From the warm welcome when we arrived to the goodbyes when we were leaving. Our room had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The room was cleaned and stocked every day. All the staff were polite and respectful. They even knew our names. The pools and beaches were beautiful and Prickly Pear Island will be unforgettable with the crystal clear waters. Hodges Bay is a quiet,relaxing resort. I had tears in my eyes when we were leaving. We would highly recommend this place. 

Tip: We pre booked a round trip service to bring us from the airport to the hotel($136.00). We decided a few days before arrival to cancel that service. We are very happy that we did. When you get your luggage and go out the doors you will see a median in the road with a taxi counter there. We got a taxi for $20.00 to go to the hotel and then going back to the airport the hotel got us a taxi for $25.00.

Amazing

I found this resort just doing a google search. I've traveled to Antigua several times and wanted something different. It's a beautiful resort. Our rooms were fabulous, and the view spectacular. 

It's about 10 mins from the airport.  There's a taxi stand at the airport, and they charge about $25 to drive to the hotel. To get around Antigua can be a little costly. 

The reception area was very clean and a very open concept. No issues with check in or the reception.  They were very helpful.  I enjoyed the breakfast every morning with the most breathtaking views.

There is a cat or two wondering around the facility, but they don't bother anyone.  

 My highlight was taking the boat to their Prickly pear island.  I could stay there all day. Bring your own drinks or food. They have a bar on the island, but the food wasn't that good. Her drinks were better. 

CONS - Need some entertainment at night like a live band.  
The service is a bit slow, but I think that's the majority of the Caribbean.  It took them forever to clean our rooms and make the beds. I guess it was a staffing issue. We never had enough towels and wash clothes, so we found their lining closet and had to raid it at least one a night.  The food in the restaurant was just ok. Breakfast was the best for me.  The lawn chairs pillows were weathered and ripped. Hopefully they corrected it. 

I will be returning for that penthouse suite one day!

Went to Hodges Bay Resorts&Spa for my birthday sent the day at pricklypear and had a blast (long story short) I meet the sweetest set of staff Jahmorlie at white sands restaurants. Taneka at the pool bar and when I went to pricklypear I meet tango who was amazing with everything he did can't forget the butler Craig n to the youth man who greet us at front desk can't remember his name but remember his haircut he had the front of his hair cut n the back braided and every other staff I saw with in the facility was amazing. I had the most amazing day I enjoyed my birthday it was well spend

Best birthday ever

I thoroughly enjoyed my time there especially Charlene at the front desk who went above and beyond to assist me in locating a long lost friend on the island.  The hotel is a tad expensive but still worth every penny that was spend.  

The downside was a manager by the name of Jean-Marie. She’s also at the front desk and was constantly berating Charlene in the presence of other guests as well as another staff by the name of Mark. Not sure if it’s his correct name but he has a unique hairstyle where his head is shaved and he has cornrows at the back.  The manager was rude and I can honestly say that I don’t know how they work under her. 

Glave at the restaurant was great and very patient. Jennifer and Desire in housekeeping was very good as well as Cherianne in the coffee shot. 

Overall I give the hotel a 10/10. 
Staff gets a 9/10
While I would have given 4/10 based on the front desk manager, due to Glave I increase the score to 8/10.
