Pool

3 couples staying in separate villas for a significant birthday. Villas are really comfortable and in beautiful settings overlooking the sea. Main pool never too busy. Food generally very good but with a few meals (including the seafood evening) that weren’t as good. Meals and drinks not silly prices (in the context of many places aimed at US/UK visitors). Beachside restaurant really good. Beach itself beautiful but often has visiting boats with lots of people - time your swims carefully. Beach can get a bit insecty as it’s often very still and damp down there. Excursions looked a bit expensive but 2 happy hours cushion the blow. All in all a very relaxing stay with friendly and excellent staff.

Relaxing stay in lovely surroundings. Not cheap but ok in the context of St Lucia!

What a find! Ti Kaye is a gem of a place here in paradise.

Ti Kaye - Best chilled beach resort with snorkelling and kayaking

Unfortunately, this place did not live up to the hype we read in several aspects. It turned out to be an average stay among all the resorts we've visited in the Caribbean over the last 20 years.  Don't get me wrong, an average stay in a resort like this is still a really great stay for many people.  But if you are a discerning traveler or the property manager, these are the items that kept it from being truly great.

The Staff was a real mixed bag -- We found a couple of people that were truly wonderful and elevated the resort experience, offset by others who didn't care or lacked training. Examples like - our waiter delivering the appetizers and then disappearing.  By the time someone tracked down our food, it was lukewarm and had sat waiting for a long time (the kitchen and wait staff should have noticed food just sitting there);  or staff letting us sit with empty glasses (water or drinks) for 20 minutes.  On the other hand, our host for the wine party (and morning breakfast waitress) and the bartender in the upstairs bar were wonderful beyond compare.

The timing for food was very inconsistent, two nights we waited over an hour for the main course and another night we had it in 10 minutes (same dish). That was a common complaint from other guests.  Ti Kaye limits the number of tables that can be seated at one time, but even that didn't help the kitchen with their delivery issues.  

We were disappointed in the food.  Most of the evening meals were topped with a sweet sauce and even when we asked for the sauces and toppings to be placed on the side, they would still put something sweet on the meat. (As if the meat couldn't stand on its own - it did).  We were also expecting a little more culinary diversity, but didn't get that wish.  The portions are "american sized", so there was waste at our table and likewise on the tables of some european guests.  I wish they would move to supporting small and large portions of their meals.

The resort grounds were limiting in that you can't really have a relaxing walk anywhere.  The resort is on a hillside with only one flat road that was an easy walk.  The road down to our cabin was a paved 14 degree slope that then turned into another 50 stairs to our room.  If you get the private pool rooms closer to the ocean, be ready for a little exercise every morning getting up to the restaurant.  There are rooms that aren't as difficult to access, but you need to work with the resort to get those.

No issue with the power.  There was some 110V (US) in the room, but all of our devices run on 100V-250V, so with a Tessan adapter to convert type G (UK) receptacles to multiple type A/B (US) receptacles, we had no issues.  There are USB (Type A) plugs on the wall outlets located behind the furniture.

The rooms were nice and quiet.  I would like a receptacle outside on the deck so that in the morning, I could boil water for coffee without waking my wife.  For those of us that get up early, there was no "early riser" coffee pot to be found.  Nothing available until 8:00 except what's in your room.  

There was one morning when I heard a weed eater running at 7:00 over by the spa, but otherwise, property maintenance didn't start until 8:00.   They were refreshing the concrete steps to our room and a room near us, so we encountered the workers every time we went somewhere.  If I could have had a day  without seeing them, I would have been happier.  Maybe spread the work around a little?

The snorkeling was good and there was easy access from the beach and dock.  Take advantage of the snorkeling in the morning before the cruise ship boats arrive.  There are locals that are willing to tow you around behind their kayak if you aren't a strong swimmer.  Several guests took advantage of this and were very happy.

Even with the funicular (lift), there are stairs to get to the beach and/or lower restaurant.  Some had railings, some stairs did not.  In the upper restaurant, there are stairs to the bar/wine cellar without a railing for several steps.  This is not a resort for someone who can not manage stairs without railings.

For those planning to go to Ti Kaye: when the resort requests your flight information, you should ask what events are happening during your stay and book anything early in your trip before you arrive.  You should also make your dinner reservations for the first night or two before you arrive.  Once there, you can make dinner reservations on the app, but the wine and rum tasting parties are only handled through the front office.  (Do both of these if you can - these were very enjoyable).

Water shoes can make a big difference in the ocean, especially for low tide when more of the rocks were exposed or in shallow water.

We booked the fast track entry.  On our arrival date, planes landed every 10-30 minutes apart (see Airportia website) and we were the 7th flight of 10 coming in that day. With a 90 minute drive to Ti Kaye, Fast Track got us on the road within 10 minutes of landing. Using Airportia, you can see how many flights are arriving the same day as you and decide if it's worth it.  I'd recommend Hilary transfer and Tours to get to the hotel.  The owner drove us over and an employee drove us back.  Both were knowledgeable, had clean vehicles, and provided an excellent ride.

Not as special as it could have been -- (unfortunately)

Perfect idyllic location, great rooms with lovely balcony with hammock, rocking chairs, and unforgettable view. Loved the beach. Staff all excellent.  Food good in both the main and beach restaurant though would have liked slightly more variety or more casual beach restaurant menu some evenings. Will definitely be back! 

Perfect tropical getaway

Overall we did have a lovely time here but believe that the hotel could do with making a lot of small changes to improve their experience for guests for the cost to stay here. It has the potential to be out of this world as the scenery is breathtaking and the setting of the hotel stunning. 

The reception/front desk staff come across as stand-off-ish. It never felt like they were going out of their way for you but had an attitude of "it is what it is".

Our room was beautiful and very clean, the only disappointment were a few cockroaches which once discovered led us to sealing/plugging the bottom of the door to the shower with a bath mat, if the doors could be sealed to the floor to stop critters coming in (cute tiny frogs welcome but hard to catch!) We also had a tarantula in our shower which the hotel offered no apology/follow up for after removing it. It's this kind of thing that leads to feeling like you're not an important guest where communication between front of house staff and follow up would make a huge difference to feeling looked after. 

The beach felt a little forgotten about with towels not always available with the hotel blaming the linens company for this. There are a few broken curtains on the pergola and the tables didn't seem to be wiped down at the end of the day. The SUP (stand-up paddle) boards are very worn out and really need replacing and are extremely heavy making them difficult to use. 

Some of the floor tiles at the side of the pool have come loose which when I stepped out splashed muddy water all up my trousers. 

Dinner booking slots are from 6-8 which is so early, and last orders at the bar is at 10:30 so by 11 everything is closed. 

One night we took our last drink to reception with another couple we were chatting to where the lights were then turned off on us by the bartender when she left with no warning or apology. This was extremely rude and not representative of a 4 star resort. If the resort are going to have everything close early then perhaps it should offer more wellbeing experiences and state this upfront. 

Positives: 

Very clean room

The beach restaurant was excellent with unbelievable burgers and pizza made in a pizza oven. 

The spa is incredible!! We had the most beautiful deep tissue massages together which was a highlight of the trip. 

The app is very useful and impressive for a resort to have. 

They decorated our table at dinner for our last night which was a lovely touch. 

The vegan menu is good but could be improved. I loved the tofu dish but some of the other dishes were very similar (like the pasta dish which has the same sauce as the tofu)

Overall, I think they need a hotel manager who speaks/interacts with guests on a daily basis and takes feedback from guests and reviews to really bring this place to life.
