….just back from an excellent stay here…and it gets 10/10 from me…great location…clean…good value for money..friendly and helpful staff…good breakfasts…the view across to the sea is splendid..and the individual villas give a feel of privacy …would definitely return.

A great place to stay

A basic yet functional hotel, we booked a cheap deal so was not disappointed. The whole place is in need of some TLC and the rooms would benefit from a few mod cons but must say were very clean and were cleaned every day and fresh towels also daily. The staff were great and aways helpful. One word of caution there are lots of steps to the vast majority of the villas so if you have mobility issues this is not the place for you. Only had one evening  meal and one breakfast in the hotel the evening meal was good the breakfast was basic for the €10 price. The Galaxy is well located for the village of koutouloufari which is an amazing place.

Ok place at the right price, but not if you have walking difficulties

The only reason for the 1 star is the cleaners , bar area and all but one 1⃣ reception are excellent.The operation manager Mariois not super. I found him to be a loudmouth biget,shouting at the to of his voice rude comments every time he was in reception. 
Now for the hotel. It is not 4 star,at best 2 star.
As per previous reviews the pool area has new sunbeds, not enough if hotel was full.
My main concern is the rooms, very dated, the electric wiring is very poor and dangerous. 1 socket behind the stove, which you have to lean over to unplug it so you can plug A kettle in. All the sockets care worn and your plugs come slightly out cutting the circuit. Hot water was good .the room has steps in and out of every room. 3 steps in the bathroom and. 
We are in room 2 with a dangerous flight of stone steps. No handrails. This hotel is not for anyone with walking issues. We would not come again unless improvements are made. We are 9 days into a 14  day holiday not the best experience we have had. Thanks to wise crack loudmouth Mario.

Not a 4 star hotel

My first solo holiday booked as a package with Easyjet holidays. 

I arrived at around 1am and as per other reviews saw a note on the door with a number to call. A gentleman answered and a couple of minutes later appeared. I think his name is Antonio (it was very early in the morning) he took my case for me and lead me to reception where he got me a bottle of water, fetched my room key (a proper key - you don’t get that much these days) and led me to my room. As I’d read other reviews I knew there would be a lot of steps, also Crete is a hilly island so unless your accommodation is right by the beach expect there to be steps. I would say though that if you emailed reception before you came that they would make every effort to allocate you a room closer to the top of the complex.

My room (although more like a little apartment) was at the bottom of the complex. After some sleep (and yes the mattress is firm but I like that) a good look around revealed a fairly spacious, simply yet adequately furnished room with a good size bathroom. As seen on other reviews there were differences in the level of the sleeping area to the living area demoted by a step that I would say is about 3-4 inches (so around 10cm) in height - just something to be mindful of if you get up in the night!) The kitchen area had a fridge, kettle and counter top oven/hot plate. There was some cutlery in the drawer, basic cooking utensils and some crockery and glasses - enough to make a simple breakfast if you didn’t want to use the hotel restaurant and have water, wine/beer and snacks in the fridge. I wouldn’t say you would want to cook a full meal - but with so many restaurants nearby at various price points why would you!

Patio doors from both the bedroom and living room revealed a private little seating area with a small table and chairs and a sea view. Being May not all the rooms were booked so it was quite quiet at this end of the complex. 

I went back up to reception to finish the check in process and met Mario, I found him to be a very gregarious guy, very chatty, would wave to guests as they came and went, and gave me some suggestions for things to do and see. I’d seen that some reviews found him to be rude but he was never that way when I saw him. There is a main pool that is quite deep with steps at the side to get in not the more common very shallow end but a ladder (I hope that makes sense) and a small very shallow kiddies pool. The bar area is very pleasant with lots of tables with parasols for shade. Inside there are lots of seats and the restaurant, the upper level has a pay-to-play pool table and some more seats.

I found all the staff to be lovely, would always say hello and the room was beautifully clean. The floors are stone some can feel a little gritty underfoot so maybe bring some cheap spa type slippers.

They have a little area at the back of reception where you can leave your case if you have time to fill between checkout and getting to the airport but no dedicated place to change clothes like some hotels (they very kindly let me use a room to change my outfit to something warmer as my flight home was landing at 2am) so something to consider. 

I had a wonderful time, felt welcome and very safe which as this was my first solo holiday gave me a lot of confidence. I would definitely return here.

First solo holiday

Galaxy Villas Staff were very helpful and friendly especially Antonio on reception who helped us throughout our stay.  Our rooms were very spacious and we were in a beautiful garden setting with a sea view.  Had no complaints about any of the staff.  Extremely hot water on tap at all times.
 If we had a complaint it was against Easy Jet whose description of the property made no reference to the amount of dangerous steps there were to negotiate throughout the property both outside and inside our villa.   Being in our late seventies and eighties this was quite a problem for us and our friends.  Also at the end of our stay we had a huge influx of American college students (around 80) we were told, who whilst polite and friendly were extremely loud and took over the pool and bar every day/evening keeping our friends awake with their loud noise into the early morning.
Koutouloufari is a delightful village with a supermarket and excellent bakery right opposite the complex and also a great range of Tavernas which were also very good.   Very friendly people all around.  The beach is a very long walk downhill into Heronnisos took us 40 minutes, and we had to hire a taxi / car to get to any decent quiet beaches as Heronnisos is very over crowded and commercial.   All in all I would recommend the Villas for younger people but if you have any mobility problems then I would suggest reluctantly that this is not the place for you and I wish we had looked at the trip advisor reviews BEFORE  booking it.  Our mistake but Easy Jet should make this clear in their description of the property.

Good value for money but difficult access issues.
