Ikos Olivia

Three generations - 6 adults and 2 under 5's went for a week. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Mini bar is included in the AI and restocked daily. Maid service am and pm. Three pools (one only for 'deluxe' customers - not us (!) )are warm with an adult only area in the main pool. Aqua pool has three areas - 2 for kids.
Highlights of the trip include outstanding, enthusiastic service. Special mentions for Katerina, nutritionist, who was v helpful with my wife's dietary needs, though the chefs were then a bit haphazard with the instructions; Dimitris waiter at the Aqua pool; Dimitris waiter at Fresco and Flavors restaurants; Konstantina in Flavours; Anastasia in guest relations and Nickolas at Ouzo.
Also the wide range and quality of food and service at the themed restaurants - Fresco x2; Provence x1 + a breakfast; Ouzo x1 and Anaya x1. We also did the taverna 'dine out' (included with AI )which was OK, but food in resort was better.
Tennis courts x2 are good, tho was too hot to play most of the time.
My only criticism would be of the wine lists - whilst they are extensive, the quality is variable and of the ones we tried (some on recommendation) none were better than £7-8 bottles from a UK supermarket.
Note whilst there are adult areas this resort is aimed predominantly at the young family market.

Believe the hype, outstanding service

Having been to IKOS Oceania previously, it was just amazing, so we had very high expectations of Olivia and to be honest, we were a bit disappointed. 

The staff were fabulous, except the big chap in The Garden Room Restaurant, he was very stand offish, bordering on rude. Enrique on the other hand made up for this with his knowledge and friendly manner. Demetrious on the Beach was incredibly helpful, as were all of the staff in the Reception Bar. 

Our room was a Superior Double it was very nice and had most of what you need. However, it had a really small (Single) short Wardrobe which didn’t allow for long dresses. We resolved this by taking out the bottom shelf. Otherwise the room had pretty much everything you needed. 

What really surprised us was the huge number of Toddlers at the Resort. We found this to be just too much. There are several Pools but not a single whole Pool just for adults. The only Pool/area allocated to adults is a part of a very big pool that separates ‘families’ from adults by a number of Flower Pots. If you expect to quietly relax, or have a peaceful read, your chances are small. The beach was very gritty/stony along the shore and there are some big rocks in the Sea  - you defo need Beach Shoes.

The Buffet Restaurant (which offers a fabulous choice) sounds a bit like a kiddies Dinner Hall, inside and out. There is an area for adults only, but if you like an early Breakfast you’re out of luck, it doesn’t open until 0800. You do have another a’ la carte option if you want it, but we love to sit by the Sea and eat. All of the Restaurants served very nice food. 

The selection of drinks is fantastic, but again, there is no adults only area for you to drink at night. For us, again, that just doesn’t work. I really don’t want children running around the Bar areas at night.

Finally, IKOS are still on my Radar, but I would take much more care should we book again. Just for information, Oceania is much hillier and therefore many fewer children, but for me it was that bit better all around.

Love IKOS but not Olivia

This hotel is not correctly marketed.   There is a family hotel and then there is a predominantly children’s kindergarten.   Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds, amazing food, few adult only areas right adjacent to pre-school age children areas.

Usual Ikos high standards with limited adult only areas and so many preschool age children.

What can I say, perfect, faultless and the best holiday we have ever had

Pre having children my husband and I worked hard and rewarded ourselves with lovely and luxurious holidays. 
We had thought when we started a family our luxury holiday days were over. How is it possible to enjoy 5 star adult luxury which is appropriate for children too?!
We stayed at another family resort last year  (not connected in any way to Ikos) and paid a lot for this. It was so disappointing in many ways, service, communication quality of food and drinks and I really felt deflated for our future holidays with a young family. I also was pregnant at the time with a gluten allergy which was not understood at all in this other hotel group which left me in tears. 

I was so worried about my serious food intolerances as well as my daughters who has health complications and it would be very serious if she ate certain things. 

I needn’t have worried, every single staff member was knowledgable, reassuring and adapted anything to suit our needs. For this I am so grateful! 

We have a 5 year old boy Leo and 7 month old Sophia and I can honestly say for someone I thought was being hard to please and picky I have found absolutely no fault in anything at Ikos Olivia and it is by far the most enjoyable holiday we have ever had. 

My big issue now is that I don’t ever want to go anywhere else and we must start saving! 

Nothing was too much trouble, the service was impeccible. 

My daughter was bending her neck back in her high chair to get the attention of every waiter as they spoiled her with so much humour and attention.

Sadly during the stay we had two hospital trips something you never think would happen and it’s really made us evaluate the importance of not only being near a hospital (the hospital is 15 minutes away) but also having the support of Ikos to not only get a taxi to the door within 5 minutes for my daughter but sent a member of staff to come with us to help translate and support us. Eva from guest relations is an absolute credit to the hotel and in a stressful upsetting time she eased our worries with her amazing communication and even stayed on past her contracted hours to help us. She wouldn’t even question leaving us and went above and beyond and the taxi arranged by the hotel waited hours for us until we finished.

I honestly can’t explain how amazing the restaurants are, try them all! 

I sadly wish I made note of everyone’s names to pass on our thanks but I would run out of room as there are too many. 

Huge thanks to Anna & Vicky & Maria at ouzo  and the really funny male waiter who made my daughter laugh even when she wasn’t well. I wish I had the gentleman’s name but I joked it was her boyfriend as she went so bashful and laughed every time he gave her high fives. You are all amazing and I wish I knew all of your names! 

Katrina the nutritionist thank you so much for your support and reassurance with the food allergies, you probably sensed my anxiety when we arrived as I was so worried I would be unwell or their would be a communication issue. You were brilliant and all the staff are so knowledgeable.

Katrina in the kids club and Maria the manager (and all the other staff), huge thanks for not only making memories for our son who said multiple times a day, “is it time for kids club yet?!” but thank you for helping us in our time of need when we had to rush Sophia to hospital and you not only looked after Leo but he had the best time during the club hours and the time you stayed on with him babysitting until we arrived back. 

I did make a point of speaking to Eva’s manager to pass on our gratitude and burst into tears as it really does mean so much but I do hope everyone gets the recognition they deserve.

Beyond perfect

I was staying in Olivia with my family in June 2024 and we had such a great time. We went with my parents and our 1.5 year-old baby and everyone took such good care of us everywhere we went! We spent the majority of our time at the Splash pool, we couldn't get our daughter out!! Special thanks to Lucie for coming to check on us. Foteini in Flavors was absolutely amazing as well and everyone at the Aqua pool deserves a big shout out. Thank you! We will be back for sure.
