I’m not one to write reviews but having travelled a lot in my time, I can’t believe that this hotel has 5 stars. I’ll start off with the good points because there were a few but overall the hotel is shocking in many ways 
Firstly, staff are lovely including front desk and the staff in the main restaurants. They were always super accommodating and amazing with our children. Secondly, for buffet food we were impressed with the food despite quite a limited choice. But the quality of food was great. 

Okay so now with the complaints. Firstly this is advertised as a family hotel. There are steps/ stairs everywhere. Only one lift is available and that was to go to our room from
Reception. Everywhere else we always had to pick up the pram where ever else we needed to go to in the hotel. 

When we arrived to our room, the aircon wasn’t on. When we did turn it on an awful smell came out of it for several hours like it hadn’t been used in a while. The bathroom drains absolutely stunk the whole time. I did notify staff about this and admittedly they did try to sort it by cleaning it but it didn’t make any difference! Our doors to the balcony had condensation in so we couldn’t even clearly see out of our room. We booked a sea view room however we could hardly see the ocean due to overlooking a huge roof of a restaurant. 

Many times our room was cleaned to a poor standard and I always had to ask for water in the room. Water in the bars was served warm, never cooled! Drinks were terrible. Only local alcoholic drinks were given! And for the money we spent on the hotel, like most 5 star resorts you can have a choice of all alcoholic beverages. Cocktails were very poorly made. Flat coke and lemonade for the bars also as they were poured from open plastic bottles. 

No aircon is in the restaurants. So you sit there like your outside. 

The morning we got there, there wasn’t any beds available at all. We went to the kids pool, to discover there isn’t anywhere to get drinks! How can you have a child’s pool with no access to drinks! The kids club was a little hut that had no shade. 

Only one area offering towels between a set time in the day and that involved going down the huge amount of steps. No towels available at the pool right at the top of the resort. The pool bar wasn’t open at the pool near reception. Only one staff member in the day was present on the bar we had to walk too. 

The two a la carte restaurants! Well honestly the service to the sushi restaurant was absolutely shocking. We were ignored most of the time. I asked for two extra side plates to be able to serve my children’s food up and they denied it. I saw some tables were being offered top ups for wine but various other tables including ours wasn’t. 

Kids high chairs! So dangerous. No straps so they can just fall out or try and get out! 

Room standards dreadful. The beds are awful, both my partner and I had sore backs. The aircon unit is so loud you can hardly sleep with the rattle. The TVs don’t work! They say smart TVs for Netflix and I called down to reception and they said they haven’t got internet to them so they don’t work. Our safe got stuck several times so not exactly ideal. Mini bar never got refilled. Bed sheets didn’t get changed for several days. The sofa bed isn’t long enough for a child to sleep length ways on let alone an adult! 

You can’t eat lunch in the pool restaurant in the day. You have to pay to order food or you can have cold buffet food with the option of some chips, pizza and warm salad. 

We never was able to get any sunbeds! We could only get beanbags which were always so wet as the pool overflowed many times soaking all our belongings. The water gushed down a set of stairs next to us which was extremely dangerous! 

I honestly feel like I could go on. I spoke with the manager about a few of these issues and was offered a 30 minute massage as compensation. I was told by the manager that the hotel isn’t family friendly hence the steps everywhere without lifts. I’m sorry but you can’t advertise a family friendly hotel when the manager is telling me it isn’t 

The location of the hotel also is in the middle of nowhere. There isn’t anywhere to walk outside of the resort so we very much felt stuck for 10 days. We hired a car for a day which was nice to explore the island. 

This hotel is not of a 5 star standard, but of a 3! And this really does need to be addressed.

3 star hotel at a push! Not family friendly, terrible overall!

So my wife and I have just returned from this hotel with our 2 & 5 year old. We discussed the issues with the  hotel at length and didn't want to come across as one of the keyboard warriors, however we agreed writing an honest review could help other families/couples on making a decision. 

Transfer: Advertised as 45 minutes, but took 1hr 45 stopping off at every hotel on the way whether it was within a town or down a back alley. Spoke to TUI rep and they gave us a typical answer regarding depends on how busy the season is etc etc. With two small children this wasnt ideal after a 4 hr flight but based on the advertised 45 mins we decided against a private transfer.

Arrival at hotel: Nobody greeted us at the door so we were left to struggle with cases,push chair and children. Not the end of the world but if it claims to be 5 * then I would of liked to be met by concierge or front of house. We were the only ones checking in so were dealt with quickly, given the details of hotel etc and finally escorted to room.

Room/Hotel: First impressions were its modern, clean, great view from our room but not all. Room had everything you really need, aircon. usb chargers, plenty storage space, hair dryer. We had a Junior Suite but there was no bath which wasn't ideal with the kids but we got by. The room wasn't cleaned regular, I would say they made the beds and changed sheets towels but didnt really clean the room or bathroom. Again not a major issue but for 5* hotel you would expect a bit more. Min Bar Fridge at an all inclusive hotel that isn't included just doesn't make sense but we  never touched it anyway so no dramas.

Stairs: There are literally hundreds of steps the hotel footprint is based over 4 levels including the beech, infinity pool, accommodation, main restaurant and front of hotel. We never used the pushchair once which wasn't ideal for tired little legs. If your thinking for kids and pushchairs its certainly a negative. Yes there are ramps either end of the hotel but they are steep and in 32 degree heat not ideal.

Food & Drink: This is a subject for scrutiny and everyone has there own opinion but for us the food was ok, not great not awful but just ok. Different themed nights but nothing to shout about, the Greek Gyros was probably the best of all the themes. The snack bar is shockingly bad with dried up burgers, fish fingers and chips, accompanied by the warm salad. Asian Al a Carte was lovely, 4 course meal, however why you want soup in 32 degree heat as a starter is beyond me, so we skipped that course, starter and main lovely, staff forgot all about us se we left having just had 2 courses. Med ala carte is the snack bar in day restaurant at night which didn't fill us with much hope however the food was lovely again only the two courses out of the four.
The Drinks were all local drinks, very limited on the all inclusive and very poor standard. As there is a half board option. branded drinks were available at extra cost but after spending £3500 why would you buy drinks. You get the local, gassy beer, the local house white wine (by the glass) and local spirits. Cocktails by the pool were shocking and  depending on if the pool bar staff were in the mood or not meant that some cocktails were available one minute but not the next. The main bar by the reception seemed to be the best for quality of drink and staff. Beech bar was ok but told to come back in 20 mins I'm on my break isn't great. Where are all the staff?
Water was served from plastic bottles that were topped up from half empty bottles, again not something from a 5 *. Pool bar was never open?

Pools: Pools were fine, infinity pool obviously the flagship of the hotel, filled with swim up couples smoking and drinking. Relax pool quiet but no lifeguard, children's pool is basically a paddling pool so you cant swim in it. Children's play area next to it is small and basic, we didn't use the kids club but it was a shed with a decking area didn't look amazing.

Shuttle bus to town is cheap 3.20 for two adults one way, however the drivers must be having a competition to see home many people they can fit on as they literally rammed people on like sardines. Not comfortable  at all, however taxis were 17 euro but when we asked for one we were told they would try, but because of local holiday they couldn't get one. There is no uber on the island.

One absolute stand out for us however was the waiter Michalis in the main bar. An absolute great guy that treated us like royalty, made an absolute fuss of the kids, befriended them , knew our order off by heart and was always welcoming and pleasant every evening. As we watched him go about his work it was evident he treated everyone that way with departing guests wanting pictures with him. An absolute credit to the hotel, and if anyone from the hotel reads this review then give that man a pay rise what a star!

All in all, average to disappointing, luckily the kids were young enough to just want to enjoy the pool but for us it was disappointing having read the positive reviews. Its more of a couples hotel than a family hotel very little families there however its not really ideal for families with the layout.

I hope this review is honest and helps people make a decision on where to spend there hard earned. Our advice, seek a personal recommendation form someone thats been somewhere decent as holiday prices are crazy.

Not everything as it seems, worth reading if considering.

Location:
We thought the 1.45hr transfer was going to be painful with how late the flight was with a 5 year old. It is actually shorter than expected, got to the hotel very quickly from the airport... Beautiful location! So peaceful! The sea is so clear you can literally see schools of big fishes around you when swimming. We also saw some dolphins, it was amazing! 

Hotel:
If you are looking for a holiday, give Kos a try. And if you are going to Kos, don't miss this hotel. Upon check in, the reception team is very patient with explaining things. We arrived past midnight, so the restaurant was all closed, but the hotel made sure we had sandwiches /fruit/water available upon arrival in the hotel room. The restaurant food was amazing!! Flavour, texture, variety, all superb! Food is very traditional  on certain days, so you don't have to venture to town to look for Greek traditional food. We booked this holiday for our son's 6th birthday, but we never mentioned this to the hotel, on the night of his birthday, when we got back from the swimming pool, a lovely surprise was waiting for us with a beautiful birthday cake. We were so over the moon with the surprise, and the cake tasted sooo amazing. The hotel itself is clean, model, smart and tasteful! The swimming pool is so beautiful where it is located... All staff ( bar, pool, restaurants, chefs, reception, housekeeping and all) work hard and are helpful and friendly. 

Don't know what else we can say about how amazing  our experience was with this hotel, would have given more 5+ stars for the hotel if there is an option. We are regular travellers and have been to many countries /hotels, this hotel so far is one of which we will defo return soon. If you are looking and comparing, look no more,  pick this one and get ready with the amazing experience that is awaiting for you. All the best!

Beautiful! Good food! Super service!

Great resort and very polite service. Good food selection and fresh water was offered. Very good options to rent cars or a buggy, starting from a single day, to visit the island. We rocommend Michelangelo very much. Only the "evening animation" could be sligthly better to meet teen-agers expectations...

Very Good

The top selling point for this hotel is the view from the sea facing rooms and the pool area. I feel they have used this massively in upselling the hotel as 5star which it is not. 

We had a private transfer from airport which I would recommend as we arrived in under 45mins if you don’t want to spend over 1.5hrs on the bus.

Rooms are ok and for the time you spend in them no issues. Bathroom set up a bit strange and dont offer any real privacy. Beds made and towels changed daily however I don’t feel the rooms were actually cleaned. No hooks to hang towels on etc which is frustrating especially when there are 3 of you using them! 

On arrival the sofa bed wasn’t made up but was advised housekeeping would be along soon to do this. We arrived after 9pm. We were told at the front desk that the buffet closes at 10:30. Both of us heard them say this so it wasn’t our mistake so we decided to go to the room and then go down for something to eat. The buffet closes at 9:30pm. I asked at reception if there was somewhere my 10yr old son could get something to eat as we had now missed it and was told it can be reopened for us and to wait until 11pm when snacks are provided for late arrivals.  We sat in the bar for an hour and then went for snacks which were soup and some bits which were not worth waiting for. We went back to the room and the sofa bed for my son was not made up. Phoned reception but nobody seemed to understand  what I wanted! I walked to reception to explain in person and finally got housekeeping to come to the room to see what I needed. 

Lovely view from the rooms but some of the balconies are not private which I didn’t like. 

Food was nice and eveything we ate was tasty. Buffet smaller than what we are normally used to in other AI hotels but like I said tasty nonetheless so this wasn’t the issue. The issue is the awful canteen feel and where some staff are lovely and try their best some serious attention to staffing levels and competence is needed to bring this hotel up to standard. So slow cleaning away plates which meant you ended up stacking your own used plates at the end of the table to make room. Slow coming to take drink orders and water provided usually warm. 

Travelled as family of 6 and when we asked if we could join 2 tables together so we could sit together for our evening meal the waiter said no! We could all sit on a table for 4 and extra placemats and chairs provided for the end of the tables but that was so cramped! 
Food and mess on floors not cleaned up quickly. Overall lack of care and attention a 5 star hotel would have and that’s what has impacted my review. If I had paid and expected a 3 star service I would have no issues but we didn’t. When plates etc were cleaned away all you could hear constantly were the stacking of plates and cutlery being emptied ready for cleaning. So much noise and no real care for creating any sort of dining atmosphere.   

Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday. Weather was great. Very windy but this was nice for offset the heat! 

We travelled with 10yr old and 11yr old who pretty much like to entertain themselves in the pool etc but if you’re looking for kids club or entertainment from hotel for your kids then this isn’t the place for you: we knew that before travelling and not issue for us. 

Small shop in hotel but another shop outside hotel with more choice just 5min walk outside main entrance. 

Fridge in room but empty. You are supplied with water daily. Every other 5star AI hotel we have always had complementary drinks in the fridge so this was different for us. 

Lots of steps. No issue for us but hotel would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. 

Overall biggest let down is the lack of care and attention to detail from staff. Some staff quite abrupt and some through no fault of their own couldn’t understand anything you asked for. I asked for milk a few times and was told they didn’t understand and to ask someone else! This hotel could be amazing if investment made in upskilling and recruiting more staff.

Not the 5star experience we hoped for…
