Pool

Me and my partner stayed at Kouros Palace for a week, booked through a TUI last minute deal, and we had a nice experience at the hotel.

We had a TUI transfer coach from the airport to the hotel, and it took 15 minutes (2 stops before our hotel), and this was such a relief epecially after travelling all day. It was so nice to have such a short journey. 

Upon arrival, the outside of the hotel was absolutely beautiful (it was all lit up due to arriving early hours of the morning). We were greeted by a man who took our luggage from us as we entered the reception. The reception was very clean and well decorated, and it only took us around 10 minutes to check in - the process was very seamless. We were also upgraded from a standard twin room to a seaview twin room for free, which was a nice surprise! The staff who checked us in were very friendly and helpful, and they gave us some free food upon arrival!

The same man who took our luggage drove us to our room on a buggy and carried our luggage up to our room. 

Our room was clean and spacious, the furniture was a bit outdated and it does need a bit of renovation, however the room was perfect for us as we were not planning on staying in the room that much. There were a few ants on the floor in our room and bathroom, but as mentioned we did not stay in the room for long periods of time so it could be overlooked - still not pleasant though. Our balcony looked straight out onto the sea and it was a beautiful view, especially when the sun was setting. 

We had booked bed and breakfast board, but we only ate in the restaurant a couple of times. The breakfast was okay, nothing special. There was quite a few options to choose from which was good, but the quality was not 5* - again, we were not too bothered about this as we usually would go and eat elsewhere but it was nice to have the option of eating at the hotel. 

We booked a taxi to go into Kardamena via the hotel, and it turned up very quicky so this was also a nice touch as well - it cost us 24 euros which was not too bad. We hired a moped for the rest of the trip and we parked it outside of the hotel free of charge, and there was always plenty of spaces. 

The Kouros beach was a 10 minute walk away, and it was a lovely beach with lots of places to lay down and relax, it was not busy. There was also a beach bar which we visited as we wanted to get a drink, but we were told that we had to pay 20 euros for food and drink which we did not want to do, as we only wanted one drink so this was a bit inconvenient, but it didn't bother us too much.

We spent our last day at the hotel by the pool (this was the only day we spent at the hotel). It was a nice atmosphere for us and it was quite relaxing, i.e. not many children due to being before summer holidays, relaxed vibe around the pool, music, etc. 

The entertainment staff came over and chatted to us, and they were so friendly and enthusiastic which was really nice. They also had a water aerobics class about midday, and we sat and watched it and it looked like lots of fun (the lady conducting it was very good!) 

I went up to the pool bar (on the 2nd floor where we were by the pool) and asked the staff for a food and drinks menu. The staff member who I spoke to was very rude and had no idea what he was doing. He told me that they do not do food by the pool and the only food they had was tiny silces of cut up pizza or rolls wrapped in cling film (which looked like it had been sat there for days, and did not look very appetising). I thought was a bit odd, as every other hotel I have stayed in has always had a pool menu with food such as a hot dog, chips, etc. I then just asked if I could get a drink and they said that the only way I can pay is via cash as they do not keep any change, so basically you had to have the exact amount of change to buy a drink or either lose money or don't buy one at all. They also did not have a card machine, so it was pretty much impossible to get a drink. My partner then went to the main bar on the ground floor and had the exact same rudeness and response - which was a shame as every other staff member we spoke to were really accommodating and friendly. Maybe new staff should be employed at the bars? Luckily, we had bottles of water and snacks that we had bought from the Kouros market across the road to keep us going.

Check out was at 11 and was seamless, took us 5 minutes. They had a luggage room to put our suitcases for the day and we could access them at any time which was nice. 

The hotel is very remote - Mastichari is a 30-40 minute walk away (we never did this) or a 10 euro taxi ride. The only shop near to the hotel, is the hotel owned Kouros market which was brilliant, we went there every day and the staff were lovely in there. Luckily, me and my partner hired a moped for the week so we could travel around Kos and I am so glad we did this, as we estimated we would have spent 500-600 euros on taxis alone. 

Personally, I think this hotel is brilliant for couples like myself and my partner who only wants somewhere to rest, and spend the rest of the holiday exploring. It might be okay to relax in for a week, but the lack of food and drink throughout the day might grind on you. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who does not want to hire a vehicle as you will be spending a fortune on taxis or walking for hours, and you will be limited to staying in the hotel.

Overall, our experience at Kouros Palace was very good - however, I would not rate it 5*, I would say it is more a 3.5-4* hotel. Certain aspects such as our arrival at the hotel and the service (most) staff provided would definitely be 5*, however there were certain aspects stated above which does bring down the overall rating for me. 

I would stay here again, but I would definitely hire a vehicle again as this perfected our holiday. I would not book this hotel all inclusive, as you would be disappointed. 

My tips for someone who is planning to stay here is:
- Hire a vehicle!!!! (we hired ours from Top Gear Rentals in Mastichari for 90 euros for 5 days - excellent)
- Explore Kos
- Make sure you have the exact change for food and drink!
- Visit Kouros Market

Pleasant stay

absolutely lovely hotel. i stayed here with my family for a week and couldn’t recommend more to anyone who’s looking for a holiday! the hotel is only a 11 minute drive from the airport so anyone who hates travelling far this is perfect for them. the entertainment every night was fantastic. i’ve seen allot of reviews saying the rooms aren’t clean but our rooms were cleaned everyday and fresh bedding and the cleaners were lovely was able to leave my things in my room and come back to them without them being taken. the pools are lovely but not enough chairs for everyone. the pool bar food was alright. food such as pizzas rolls and wraps. however the portion sizes were very small and there wasn’t allot of variety for people. the meals were alright 3 courses a day  but yet again not allot of variety for people especially picky eaters however the cooks were lovely . there were activity’s to do during the day such as water activity’s and the entertainers brang allot of joy and energy to anyone who they met. there is also a kids club for the little ones. the hotel is only a 25 min bus ride to kos (the town) for €30 for the bus trip i would definitely recommend and allot to do and see there. there is also the lildo waterpark. there is a free bus for it and i would recommend as it’s something to do if you are someone who likes to do something. there is also a go kart track not far from the hotel. there is a private beach in the hotel which is never overcrowded and is lovely. the beach bar does some of the same food as the pool bar. all the staff were welcoming and lovely from start to finish. A big praise to Aaron for being a funny and kind person. from giving people lifts anywhere on his go kart  to bringing joy to peoples day. he is friendly and always says hello to anyone he sees and is a very lovely member of staff. also a big thanks to one of the mangers Tiffany  who was absolutely lovely to us and drove my mum and dad to the village when the busses weren’t running on a Sunday she is amazing. and all the other members of staff were so kind especially the pool bar girls always having a smile on their faces! there is a shop right opposite the hotel which is good for snacks or gifts. there is also a rent a car shop next to it where you can rent cars and bikes etc. the air conditioning in the room was lovely especially on the hot nights and kept us cool. 

overall i would definitely recommend staying here as it was a lovely hotel and would definitely come back again!

Lovely relaxing hotel. Very quiet and chilled. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to the airport. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Two pool areas which are lovely and no racing to get a sun bed. The beach is a very short walk away. Aaron has been mentioned in many posts and he is a great guy, always happy and taking everyone on his buggy around the place. All of the staff were helpful and friendly.

If you want someone quiet, relaxing and out of the way, this is the place to be.

I have come back from a weeks stay at Kouros Palace just last week. A lovely stay with the family. The Hotel is a medium sized complex with rooms in 1 and 2 floor apartment blocks. 2 clean and well maintained pools. 1 small toddlers pool. There is no issue in getting a sun lounger at either pool. The hotel boasts a nice private beach just a short 5 min walk from the hotel. You can again get a sun lounger there and either get drinks served to you or get drinks snacks or lunch at the nearby beach bar. As we were a party of 3 we had a room with double bed and a single sofa bed. The room size was sufficient and bathroom was also quite spacious. The room we were allocated was perfectly close by to the main pool and the main hotel building. The hotel boasts 1 main restaurant and 1 main bar. There is an entertainment schedule through the week and evening events. Staff are very friendly and upbeat and really helped to make you feel welcome and included. A special shout out to Arran who can be seen driving guests around the hotel to the rooms  to the beach. In the golf buggy. Also to Dimitris the main restaurant manager who was ever so patient and helpful to my parents on understanding the dishes on the menu or when they couldn't find something. The food was great. Always served hot and a great variety to suit all tastes. This was my biggest worry would my dad like the food. This holiday was my treat for my parents who haven't holidayed much in Europe. (More long haul) First time for all of us in Kos and we all enjoyed our stay. Especially my parents. The guest clientele is majority German, or couples, and families. All were fairly friendly and polite. The hotel is deemed as a 5 star and I would say its more 4 plus. But that doesn't take away from my recommendation that this is a great place. There's always room for improvement. The decor in the rooms could be updated a bit. The cleaning service is warned to be every other day but we had cleaning near each day of of different things. We had replacement towels so may times we had 9 towels at 1 point. But only on the 5th day were the sheets changed but the beds were made twice before. It was just a bit confusing what to expect the housekeeping to have done on their visit. The activity schedule is ok and provided by 2 entertainment staff that it includes yoga, and aqua fit/zumba and archery. Its just not well promoted where on the complex those activities happen. So I missed yoga sessions the first 2 days. That said both Riggs and Annecia were lovely and fun and really try to bring people together. The bar is well served by Aris but probably needs another well experienced barman to support on evenings as queue can build up if hes on a break. Also I would recommend 
they replace the kiwi cocktail off the menu for a mai tai instead. There is a roof top bar and a la carte restaurant but this did not seem to be included in the All inclusive package. I thought there was supposed to be the option to go book in to the a la carte restaurant 1 time as part of all inclusive but there wasn't really any info on this. The tui website also said there was an indoor pool but I didn't see one. As the location is a bit remote I would have appreciated more info or shuttle buses options to see the town of Mastihari from the hotel. You can easily do a nice excursion with your tour operator to see Kos. As you need transport to get there being at the west end of the island.
If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday lounging on the beach or pool and beautiful sunsets away from nightclubs and rowdy teenyboppers then this is the place to be. My parents were already telling Victoria at reception that we'd be back with the rest of the family.

Beautiful relaxing experience

We booked this hotel based on its location and its 5 star rating. It is also listed on the Tiu website as a 5T rating. It is at best a 3 star and I will list why

1. Only provided with one small bottle of water on arrival and this was not replenished even though we were all inclusive. We did take a chilly refillable bottle which you can refill at the bar. The all inclusive also finished at 11pm 

2. The rooms are cleaned every other day, and they are very outdated. Beds super hard. However we had a family room which was quite spacious. When you can’t put paper down the toilet I would expect my bin to be emptied every day. 

3. Buffet restaurant is very poor, breakfast and lunch is ok but the evenings offerings are very tasteless. We ate out a couple of nights 

4. I do expect hand gel to be provided outside the buffet restaurant. This should be standard and is at other hotels even before Covid. 

I will end on some positives. The gardens and pool area are lovely  and no trouble to get a sunbed. You are allowed 1 visit to the rooftop restaurant and this was well worth it. Top notch food but you pay for your drinks and we had a lovely bottle of wine for 24 euro which we didn’t mind paying for as the buffet wine is pretty nasty 

Also special mention for Aaron who drives the luggage to rooms who is always smiling and happy and Alexandria who works really hard in the downstairs bar. Most other staff seem miserable and disinterested 

Overall if your expecting a 5 star you will be disappointed
