Paradise Bay, Malta

Paradise Bay

Situated on the very north-western tip of Malta, Paradise Bay is the perfect location for a beach holiday where getting away from it all is top priority. The area is also renowned for being a superb location for diving and is a great base for exploring the rest of the island.

When to go

The Mediterranean climate results in some wonderfully hot and long sunny days. For maximum sunshine (12 hours a day!) and temperatures approaching 30°C, head to Paradise Bay between July and August. But, the season is long with temperatures in averaging 22°C May and 20°C in November can be enjoyed.

Top Attractions

Cruises to the barely inhabited island of Comino, with it’s crystal clear waters and blue lagoon, are very popular options amoungst visitors to Paradise Bay. Also well worth a visit is the Popeye Village, where the 1980s film Popeye was filmed.

Beaches

Paradise Bay itself is one of the top beaches in Malta. Sandy and secluded, it really is the perfect relaxing beach location. The locals are proud of their beaches and Paradise Bay is no exception. It will be spotlessly clean and welcoming before the sun worshippers and swimmers arrive each day.

Dining

In the summer months there are buffets and a barbeque to enjoy at lunchtime on the beach. As evening falls, there is no need to leave this beautiful and romantic setting as the restaurants overlooking the beach come alive. Nothing says ‘holiday’ like a fine al-fresco menu at sunset. By taking a short trip to Cirkewwa or Mellieha you will have a wide choice of flavours, either local or from around the world.

Entertainment

Whilst the area isn’t renowned for its nightlife, the beach restaurant offers entertainment in the evenings and even a beach party in May.

Culture

One of the most notable buildings on the skyline is St Agatha’s Tower. By taking a tour of this historic site with one of the knowledgeable local guides, you’ll get some fascinating insight into the history of the area. Equally insightful is Mellieha air raid shelter, preserved from World War II.

Adventure and Sports

This area’s big attraction is scuba diving. No need to worry about being a beginner - there are many dive schools along the coast offering a complete training course. By the end of your holiday, you will be exploring the extraordinary marine life and wrecks with alongside experienced divers!

Getting around

There is a bus stop on hand to enable you to visit other spots around the peninsula or venture further afield across Malta. Paradise Bay is also right next door to the harbour at Cirkewwa where a ferry to the quieter island of Gozo will only take half an hour. Low fares for foot passengers makes this a very inexpensive excursion.
