Reasonably priced hotel just off the main drag where all the restaurants and clubs are. Hotel itself was a bit tired but it was very clean and the beds were comfy. We were on the 2nd floor with a view looking down to the bay which was quite nice. Breakfast at the hotel was great with loads to choose from including freshly made omelettes and poached eggs to order. There was also a great selection of hot and cold breakfast items, fruit cakes pastries and cereals etc-the choice was probably one of the best I have had in this budget of hotel. 

Staff at the hotel were lovely-.everyone was very helpful and polite.

Bar at the hotel opened from 5pm to 10pm so if you are out late a late nightcap to finish off the evening will not be possible. The happy hour did 3 beers for 2 and no offers on the cocktails or wine which was bit disappointing.

Location of the hotel was fab with everything round about it including bus stops which took you to Valetta etc. We ate in 'The Avenue' restaurant which was nearby and had a lovely meal which was reasonably priced at around £15 for a main meal. We also ate in one of the smaller Chinese/fusion restaurants which I was a bit apprehensive in doing as they did not look the best but I have to give credit where it is due and would say excellent food and very good value for money. We also ate in a restaurant called Peppinos but I would not recommend. food was lukewarm, under seasoned and very overpriced for small portion sizes.

DO NOT do the city bus tours which offer to let you see tours of the North and South of the island. They are long, tedious and not worth the money. We bought a 2 day pass and started on the North tour it was so bad we gave our tickets away to some Irish people staying in the hotel who were going to buy them the next day. We spoke to them after they did the South tour and they opted NOT to buy the tickets for the North as it was so bad. I would suggest going on the local bus and seeing as much of the island as you can that way.

Overall Malta did not disappoint and I would recommend staying in the hotel Argento.

Reasonably priced hotel

This hotel in St Julian’s is rated 4 star; it is 3 at best. The room we booked as an executive twin looked nothing like the one I booked on line - it has carpet and very old fittings for a start unlike the one I booked. The fridge didn’t work, there was no air con (despite that being featured in the hotel blurb) and the phone didn’t work (crackled, couldn’t hear anything). Long story short, the staff were as helpful as they could, moving us to a new room the next day - this one did look like what I had expected but still no air con or a fridge that worked. They did everything to try and sort the situation but the air con still didn’t work and the fridge (we were told)  was not a fridge it “only kept things cool”. I’m not sure how it could do that when it was warm inside!

We checked out. The staff were very good about the refund which we received in full for the several remaining nights. We found another hotel that was significantly better and was 4 star, had air con and a fridge that kept drinks icy cold.

Very disappointed the pics did not reflect reality and a “4 star hotel” has no air con, no cold fridges or a number of other things we would expect.

Very poor experience

Lovely staff, excellent breakfast and passable reception areas. There is a small roof top pool and the views from the rooftop area are very nice. The place is let down by the rooms with not very comfortable beds and lumpy pillows. It is in a good location. Ac not adequate.

Good hotel but check your room before booking

Stayed at Argento for 3 nights. The hotel is in desperate need of updating and looks shabby and tired. The biggest problem for me was the terrible bed. There was absolutely no support and the springs squeaked every time I moved. They should be ashamed to allow paying guests to sleep on such a worn out mattress in a supposed 4 star hotel. After complaining they put some chipboard underneath the mattress but it was still extremely uncomfortable. Breakfast was adequate and they ran out of some items. Nice pool on the roof. Location close to supermarket and bus stop. I would not stay here again based on the poor quality of the bed. 

Terrible bed. Not a 4 star hotel. 

The balcony was nice with the sliding door for evening breeze.  The large room, closet, working refrigerator, and large bathroom were very nice.  The bedding, mattress, pillows were clean, and room service was done without asking to give you large fresh towels. The best was the breakfast buffet which offered every option possible from meats, cheese, cereal, pastries, and fresh fruits and breads. My only issue was the carpet which could use a deep cleaning for a couple spots.  When I had an issue, the manager Joseph found me with a personal apology and remedy.  Very nice!

Great location and reasonable hotel with awesome breakfast!

This hotel boasts a contemporary design and modern amenities. It is located in the tranquil residential area of Spinola Bay, right next to St Julian's promenade with its beautiful scenery, large variety of fine dining seaside restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel is just behind St Julian's Terminus and 5 minutes' walk from the beach. The hotel enjoys great public transportation links around Malta, including Malta International Airport and the capital city of Valletta, both 20 minutes' drive away.
