If you read other reviews you will see this is a good hotel - in many ways, but not all. Excellent location; very friendly, helpful staff; nicely restored old building. Indeed, the top and bottom are excellent - rooftop pool and loungers (don’t miss the tiny viewing tower with its petite Early stone spiral staircase) and a superb subterranean spa with a jacuzzi formed in an ancient water cistern hewn out the bedrock. 
But the rooms en-suite separated by only a sort of blind in some, variable decor and poor lighting. Those with windows open onto an atrium, a shaft running the height of the building so not a lot of natural light. 
Other niggles include no showers in some rooms and a TV with two controllers and no instructions on their use - we gave up. 
We didn’t see all rooms and we did get moved to a room with a shower which was better. Staff I feel are fully aware of shortcomings and I gather showers will be in all rooms at some point. 
Be careful to specify exactly what you want when you book.

Good in parts

We have just returned after a lovely stay here and would mirror all the accolades from many satisfied guests as we were very pleased with our 4 night stay. From a very warm welcome to a fond farewell every aspect of our stay was enjoyable ,offering quality and polite helpful service throughout. The hotel is very well located for access to all parts of Valletta some very nice places to eat within 10 minute walk. A final big and special thank you to Tony who was so pleasant and very helpful with advice and guidance......I trust the 'Oranje' fare well in the Euros.

Thoroughly enjoyable

We stayed at the Palazzo Consiglia for 6 nights at the beginning of June and it is difficult to add much more than many other people have said about this wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. 
We arrived mid morning arriving in a transfer organised by the hotel and we were greeted with a welcome drink and a tour of the hotel. Our room wasn’t ready as we had expected as check in wasn’t until 2pm, however, just before noon we were informed that our room (Ecologica) was ready and we were taken up in the lift to the 3rd floor. The room was excellent, spacious with a superb bathroom. The room could have benefited from a few more drawers and the lighting could have been better, but this did not detract from how nice the room was.
There is a wide choice at breakfast, and you can help yourself to cereals, fresh fruit, pastries and much more. A cooked breakfast from the a la carte menu was available, this was excellent also.
The location of the hotel could not be better, in a quiet residential area but only minutes from Merchant Street and Republic Street and a short walk to the Lower Barrakka Gardens and about 5/7 mins to the Upper Barrakka Gardens. Another short walk to the fast ferry terminal to take you to Gozo and about a 20 minute walk to the main bus station.
We spent a couple of days relaxing round the fabulous roof top pool, and yet again no noise considering we were in Valletta.
Everyone of the hotel staff were so friendly and could not do enough for you, they are clearly proud of their hotel and it showed.
We will definitely return to the Palazzo and could not recommend it enough.

Fantastic Hotel

My husband and I have just returned from 5 days in Malta, staying at this amazing hotel.  We do a lot of travelling and have stayed in many hotels and this one is up there at the top of our list!
Upon our arrival we were made to feel welcome and although we were early, they looked after our luggage and when we came back from lunch, our suitcases were in our room, which was the Industriale,  jackets hung up in the wardrobe.
The room was spacious and had a fantastic walk in shower which had a rain shower head and a hand held, powerful, shower.
Breakfast was plentiful and catered for everyones taste with fresh fruit, fresh breads, a proper toaster ( not like the usually ones that take forever) and a cooked menu.
The hotel is in a fantastic position, close to everything and all the action, but in a very quiet road.
We popped up to the pool but were to busy to rest there and also the same with the spa, but we shall definitely be returning to Malta and this hotel.
Well done to all the staff, they made us feel very welcome and that nothing was too much.

Absolutely lovely

The boutique style hotel was amazing and in a really quiet street. Very central to all amenities and harbour. Staff were amazing couldn’t do enough for you, everyone so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and rooftop pool lovely with plenty of sunbeds and towels are provided. Rooms were lovely contained everything from hairdryer to iron, toiletries and they provided water in room daily and cleaned, but the rooms do not have much natural light but plenty of lighting provided in room. We stayed in room Amante which was lovely but only slight negative they could do with changing out the roll top bath and put in a full shower as found it difficult to shower using the hose without water going everywhere as not much room to manoeuvre and the bath leaks. Overall I would definitely go back as loved it but choose a room with full shower.

Palazzo Consiglia Malta stay- June 2024

Palazzo Consiglia is a traditional Maltese townhouse situated at the heart of Valletta in St Ursula Street, just a few metres away from the St Rocco's church and key attractions such as the Lower Barrakka Gardens, Valletta Waterfront and Fort Saint Elmo. This flawless building portrays Malta's rich history, with a predominant Baroque design in the lower floors, and Roman and Arabic features that can be observed in the newest parts of the Palazzo.
The restoration of this building was undertaken with as minimal intervention as possible, in order to preserve its essence and expose the grandeur of the limestone work present in its interior. The façade has been meticulously cleaned, exposing architectural characteristics that have been illuminated with carefully selected lighting fixtures.
