Don't look at the photos of the nice rooms you will end up in the really old rooms .staff rude unhelpful.owner as rude as everyone else.had to beg for a kettle.i don't like coffee but was told I had to use it as the kettle.it reeked of coffee .I had to wait hours for a kettle which was sorted out by the cleaners.cleaners were the best thing I can say about the hotel and being next to the beach .they have lost my custom for good.

Bad place

2 bedroom apartment with huge terrace. Clean and Nice. 
Minus for renovation sound and no light in stairs. But when high season start this hotel is perfect. Pool. Friendly staff. Nice bar. Close to beach and local supermarket. Couldn’t be better. 
Recommend and we will back.

Nice and quiet for relaxed off season stay

The hotel has been refurbished to a really high standard, the rooms are very nice with big fresh tiles Scandinavian style decor and a beautiful brand new bathroom. My reason for a lower score is sadly some snagging issues. The shower screen is not big enough meaning the water went everywhere and soaked the bathroom we tried our best and did mention it to housekeeping as we were going through towels like no tomorow - they advised us to mop it up. 

Another bathroom snag - the water is a tank meaning after 2 short showers ( we travelled as a 3 ) the water was then cold. When travelling off peak I think it’s something you can manage with but if you are a family in peak summer and all want showers a few of you will get cold ones ( I saw the prices for summer and would not pay it knowing that the shower lets the room down sadly).

The breakfast- don’t pay it. We were told it’s an English breakfast and we confirmed she meant sausage bacon etc and she said yes. We even double checked as we didn’t want a continental they charge €12 and we were met with cereal toast and watered down juice - if you stay don’t waste your money. 

The pool is nice- it’s small but clean and well kept. The reception area and grounds are all well kept sadly those few snags for me meant I would not return. We mentioned the issues to reception and they said ‘ ok’. There was no attempt to try and resolve the issues sadly. 

If you’re travelling alone this hotel is ‘ ok’ as a family avoid.

Ok for solo traveller

So we checked in late evening last week, everything seems smooth until we discovered the Air Con unit in our room (Room 21) was blowing out hot air even when dialed to the coldest temperature setting, it was best to switch off. Our young toddler actually woke up due to the heat in one of the rooms. We had raised this with the nightshift receptionist, who I dragged over to test the AC to which he agreed a few times "yeah it is hot here". The best solution was to bring a few fans to blow. We didn't want to open any windows because we were bitten by flies and insects a few times already (and yes this was an issue exclusive to Clube Maria Luisa or just our room on the ground floor facing the car park. Not sure what bugs and how). 

Our best outcome was to change to another room. But it became apparent that the hotel knew about this problem, at least in Room 21. So why offer it to us? The hotels weren't full, it's early off-season in May? We have highlighted our concerns over health and safety reasons. A few times the receptionist said he "can only raise this with his superiors", we never got an answer, explanation, partial refund, nothing over whatsapp or email. Even now, I threatened them to give me a partial refund after a week for this inconvenience, still nothing. Well this review is a follow-up of their automated email, they asked for a one so here's a genuine account.

Generally the place is ok (by comparison to other resort hotels), I didn't realise it was only a 3-star hotel until my partner pointed it out to me. As far as 3-star hotels go, it's definitely not as bad as your travelodge/premier in but you would expect a degree of sloppiness, but it wasn't exactly low price neither. It was clean. The pool was nice. The brief encounters with the staff seems fair. My partner said the interiors are fancy, locations great, but it was spoiled by this technicality.

The clue in their multiple listings on Airbnb shows there might be an issue with reviews there, anyway, our overall 3 nights holiday in the Algarve was ruined only by this small detail which 'management' or receptionist of they had more power could have rectified quite easily - at least, give a response that I had requested. But I would appreciate a partial refund for the inconvenience.

Read before booking - best go elsewhere

Fantastic Apartment complex. We stayed for a week (2 friends and 2 children). Considering the apartment was very reasonable we weren’t sure what to expect. Rooms were fresh and modern, lots of lovely extra touches (toiletries, coffee machine, washing up liquid and sponge etc) which you don’t always get in other places. The whole place was immaculately presented and house keeping work hard keeping the place clean and fresh. Pool area was lovely, very quiet and always loads of sun beds on offer. On a few occasions we were the only ones there! 
There was a slight blimp when we arrived. We were greeted by a polite and helpful young man who informed us there had been a mix up and the 2 bed apartment we’d book wasn’t going to be vacated until the following day. In which case for that night we were placed in a 1 bed with sofa bed in lounge. By way of compensation, we were given free breakfast the following day. The apartment was huge and again well appointed. We found the complex and the surrounding areas to be really quiet, we were told this was because it was the start of the season. It was a 10-15 min walk to the main resort which had 10+ restaurants and bars as well as the main beach. There is also a beach 50m away from the apartments, however that is accessed by 100+ steps (not buggy friendly). We got an Uber into Albufera a few times (this ranged from 6-10 euros each way. Although that was enjoyable, we were glad to return to the quieter and more chilled area of Ohlas de Água. Cannot speak highly enough of this complex, can’t wait to return.

Fantastic Complex
