Pool

DISAPOINTED,  The indoor pool was book by appointment,  and was closed for maintenance, for 3 days of our 10 day holiday.  Being part of the Spa, I expected the pool to be relaxing.  There where children using the pool and spa facilities, so not as peaceful  you would expect. I booked for a treatment at the Spa, when I went for the treatment, the receptionist at the spa, said I was not booked in.  She was quite abrupt and denied I had booked in, She was most unpleasant. and rude  The receptionist from reception spoke to her, and I booked a treatment for later in the day.  I would normally have at least 3/4 treatments while on holidays.  I did,t book again. The room was adequate, and very clean, however, it was so noisy, you could hear the people in the rooms next door using the toilet.  the noise of the house keepers moving furniture about till late in the afternoon, made it impossible to have an afternoon siesta, Apart from the receptionist at the Spa, the staff where friendly and hard working.  I wont be returning to Vila Gale for all the above reasons

DISAPOINTING

No A/C, no hot water, terrible food, poor customer service. We stayed for four nights in early April. The hotel is nice, but not very functional and the staff is unresponsive. They did fix the hot water issue, but never responded to our multiple requests to fix the broken A/C in our room. Each time we asked about it, they assured us that maintenance would look into it, but they never did and never communicated with us about their efforts or progress. After two nights of poor sleep, we started sleeping with the door open to the balcony. This was not ideal because of street noise. Also there is only a small glass barrier between the balconies, making it easy for someone to step over the barrier and enter a room. We won’t return.

Pretty, But Not Functional & Unresponsive

Excellent hotel and facilities, wonderful kids area, very good food, good spa and super friendly staff.
The only problem was the Spa receptionist (Sandra). She had a terrible attitude, unwelcoming and irritating. She makes you feel stressed as soon as you enter, which is the opposite of what you want when you go to a spa!

Horrible Spa receptionist

Just returned from a one week bed and breakfast stay at this beautiful hotel. I  must say it far exceeded our expectations. The staff were all so friendly and polite. We were delighted with our surprise room upgrade and complimentary wine and chocolate strawberries.

The sea and beach are just across the road from the hotel with easy access via a back gate. Its a beautiful walk along the boardwalk into Lagos which takes about 25 minutes at a stroll, and if you are too tired to walk back it is only 6 Euros for a 5 minute taxi journey back to the hotel. There is a taxi rank in Lagos on the front.  
 
There are plenty of places to eat out.  You don't even have to go into Lagos. Turn left out of the back gate and you have a choice of two or three places to eat less than five minute walk away. But I would highly recommend the Italian on site and the fine dinning. The food and service was great and very well priced for the standard of cuisine.

This hotel was perfect for our out of season holiday. There were plenty of sunbeds and lovely grounds. The pool is massive. The poolside cafe offers plenty of choice at a reasonable price if you decide to have a day relaxing on site.

I would definitely return at this time of the year when the weather was a perfect 24 degrees with a light breeze.

Fabulous hotel

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the 4 star Vila Gale Hotel near Lagos Portugal, after a 1 hour taxi transfer we arrived at the hotel we were impressed with the reception area very spacious, check in was very quick and we were soon on our way to our room, we had upgraded to a Seaview room  suite as we like a lot of space and the room did not disappoint, the only thing missing was the tea/coffee making facilities this was soon corrected, the only thing I was disappointed with was that they were not replenished once during our stay this did not bother us as we always take coffee and milk with us but it still is not the point.
The hotel is set in a horseshoe shape with 3 large swimming pools and a large garden area, very impressive, our room overlooked this along with the sea view, there were ample sunbeds arranged around the pool area.
We were all inclusive so all meals (breakfast, lunch, evening meals)and drinks were included, in the main restaurant there was always something to satisfy your appetite, we mainly had lunch at the pool / snack bar could not fault it, at this point I wish to mention 2 members of staff that gave great service with a very friendly and professional attitude, Liliana Santos and Ricardo Uarela, Liliana you were fantastic and I thank you for all the meals and drinks that you served us you were a real star and a credit to the hotel. If you are staying 7 nights you can eat in the al'a'cart Italian or Portuguese restaurants once, we did both and had great meals / service we recommend you take up the offer.
On one overcast day we caught the little train into Lagos, the stop is across the road from the rear gate of the hotel, the fare is 5.5 euros per person and you  can hop on / off at any of the stops the ticket lasts all day.
If you venture to this part of the country at this time of the year beware it can go quite cool of a night time.

Portugal first visit.

This spectacular located hotel can be found on the beach front, along the sandy Meia Praia beach, Faro Airport is less than an hour's drive from the hotel. Guests are welcomed by kind staff who offers the best service. For guests joy, there are different spaces where whole family can get fun: children's playground and club, spa and fitness centre for the health lovers,  pub and a restaurant. For business travellers, there is a convention centre, and Internet access is available. Different services as laundry, car park, and garage are also available to hire. The decoration was inspired by Portuguese fashion and was designed by renowned stylists. Guests can enjoy the very nice and modern designed rooms, with comfort forniture and cozy style.
