Well positioned and well appointed, this hotel hits the mark. Attentive staff with a sense of humour, spotless rooms and communal areas. One of those rare occasions where the website photos do actually represent the true detail! The view from the rooftop, especially of the fireworks, was splendid. We were B&B basis but also ate here several times at both lunchtime and in the evening. The quality of the food was good and value for money.

A warming atmosphere and welcoming staff, very professional. Hotel location very central yet not noisy, you can relax even in the middle of Funchal city…
Really a boutique hotel with all the facilities and commodities either for a shirt or long stay.
An incredible fresh smell of cleaning while you pass through the corridor or enter in the room.
Very good breakfast and excellent service from Reception and Restaurant, all staff very friendly and professional, knowing the values of the family that owns the hotel.

Best choice when visiting Madeira!

One of the reasons we picked this hotel is that it is 5 minutes walk from the sea front and main centre with plenty of restaurants to choose from. An added bonus is that it is  not at the top of any steep hills like a lot of other hotels we looked at.

We had early flights so were dropped off at the hotel around 11:00. Reception informed us that our rooms would not be available till 14:00. We were offered a free glass of bubbly and directed to the roof / pool terrace and would be contacted via 'Whatsapp' when the rooms were ready.

The roof / pool terrace had plenty of seating and sunbeds and has a small bar where you can order drinks and snacks. A very lovely lady called Sandra looked after us until we received our 'Whatsapp' message saying our rooms were ready.
Upon arrival at receipt, the guy on reception said sorry the message was sent by mistake. We said with a smile that we think that deserved another free glass of bubbly each, to which the reply was, you need to speak to my colleague here, his colleague with a big smile on her face and in perfect English said 'Sorry I don't speak English' at which point they handed over the keys to our rooms. We think they have performed this double act a few times. It is really nice to see staff interact this way, it makes a big difference to our experience. 

We stayed in rooms 224 (overlooked the breakfast area) & 225 (overlooked a small courtyard), which was an upgrade from the standard rooms to a room with a kitchenette. The rooms were on the larger size to those we are used to having along with a large walk in shower. There was plenty of hanging space and also came with a hairdryer and a digit safe (no extra cost). You also had bath robes and slippers.

The rooms were cleaned daily, beds made up and new towels were left every day.

The bar staff (Carlos) was very friendly and would bring the drinks over, even delivering them to the seating area near reception when the bar area was full. 

The staff on the restaurant which served breakfast on the mornings and dinner in the evenings were exceptional. They work long hours, often doing both breakfast and evening dinner service. A special mention to Sandra and her daughter who looked after us really well.

The only negative  (and its a small one) we have is that a couple of times the hotel was hosting an special event in the evening where locals were invited and it appeared no space was reserved for hotel guests in the bar or restaurant areas. Believe the hotel should, at all times cater for paying guests staying at the hotel.

Highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be returning (hopefully next year 2025).

Great Hotel with Great Staff

We have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. Everything was wonderful from check in to check out. The staff are so helpful especially Claudia on reception who printed bus timetables and gave us suggestions of places to visit.
The room was very spacious with a small kitchen if required.(We didn’t use it). Lovely bathroom with large walk in shower.
Worth paying extra for a balcony.
The breakfast is very nice with something for everyone. Buffet with lots of fresh fruit. You can also order eggs, crepes etc freshly cooked and bought to your table.
The hotel is ideally situated a few minutes walk from sea front, restaurants and coffee shops.
Would definitely return if visiting Madeira again.

Great hotel

Amazing hotel can’t get a better location for seeing the city and being close to bars and restaurants. Rooms are first class as is the service, we had a lovely treatment at the spa and the food is excellent in the restaurant. The breakfast was amazing a huge spread and cooked to order options also. The staff can’t do enough to help and service first class. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Amazing hotel and anniversary trip

Located in the very centre of Funchal, in the heart of the historic centre, alongside the Palace of Jesuits, this dazzling boutique hotel arose from an innovative concept blending design, detailed architectural restoration and a welcoming atmosphere.
