An exceptionally good experience in this hotel. The breakfast suited us because they had corn bread and tasty home made jams. Also warm loaf which you can slice to whatever thickness. All staff from reception to waitressing and especially cleaners were very friendly and pleasant. We loved our apartment with the ocean view. Marcia deserves special mention as she made us a double bed! How observant and kind of her. Brilliant location too next to Pingo Doce a local supermarket!

Exceptionally good hotel!

Dated, needs a massive update, breakfast a bit samey. But.... Location spot on, cleanliness second to none, hard working and happy staff.  We were on the 6th floor (601) , no major noise a studio room 1 double and a single (3 of us) balcony on each side of the room which was wonderful. Only downside window in bathroom didn't open so was a little stuffy after a few days.
Overall pleasant hotel, needs some work and updating not just furniture. Good base for a wonderful city. 

Dated but perfect location & hard working staff

Enjoyed 7 nights at the Florasol Hotel, had requested high floor we were on the top floor( 12th) and had a one bed room apartment which was bright and modern with sea view from balcony in both lounge & bedroom, apartment was spacious and comfortable with a wardrobe and storage in both rooms, had breakfast which was continental, had a  good choice with some hot food beans ,sausages and an egg station for omelettes or fried & scrambled eggs, lovely freshly baked  bread. Bar/ dining room has a good outside courtyard area ,there was a nice pool area.
Was around 30 mins walk to Funchal or a short bus ride ,lots of nice restaurants in the area, hired a car for 2 days to see more of the Island

Our second time here and did not disappoint. Had an apartment on 9th floor with two balconies and great views. It is clean and bright and the pool is so clean and lovely. Breakfast on the balcony in the morning looking out at the sea - it’s so relaxing. The staff are lovely too.

Great hotel, good value

I had always wanted to travel to Madeira and this was a really good hotel to stay in. I felt totally safe and able to come and go as I pleased to my own little studio apartment.
The bedroom was large overlooking the sea and gardens below. Room 701. Two balconies, large bathroom and little kitchenette in a cupboard. The hotel is not glitzy and blingy but in a curious way just works well. It is clean, spacious, restaurant staff friendly and kind, location directly above the lido. Bit of a climb up the hill back to the hotel but I am totally unfit and managed well.
Flowers and trees everywhere with beautiful blossom everywhere - beautiful.
Pingo doce supermarket a few steps away. That was really lovely to browse in with no pressure.
Hotel has a list of trips they can book for you and they were with a small company and led by friendly people.
Be prepared that any trip you go on will involve very very steep hills with masses of hairpin bends.I didn't look!
Open top bus hop on / off was OK. Funchal incredibly busy place; road trip to Nuns Valley scary but so worth the view and the story was quite compelling; trip to the villages along the south coast was good.
Weather in May this year was quite cool ,but the sun was hot on warmer days.
I am  non swimmer but the lido looked lovely, but - beware the force of the waves that look innocent - I saw one woman being knocked against the rocky wall by the water that didn't look much and another holiday maker also commented to me about the force of the water when she had tried to swim in the sea.
