We were travelling as a family with a 9 month old (our first trip abroad) and the team at PortoBay made it such an effortless and enjoyable experience for us. The rooms were perfectly appointed and provided all the essentials for us with a baby: cot, high chair, baby bath, etc. They also went above this and provided very nice complementary touches such as some swim nappies and fruit smoothie pouches each evening for our baby to enjoy. The hotel is faultless and we really enjoyed our break.

Supremely comfortable, the friendliest, most helpful staff you could wish for, who really did make our stay feel special, great views, good location just a short walk into Funchal, a choice of 3  fabulous pools, yummy food - especially the Avista restaurant. Difficult to wish for anything more

A fabulous hotel

Just spent 3 nights at Les Suites. I cannot praise it enough. The hotel is beautiful, the views fantastic, the food in all the restaurants (we tried 3 out of 4) outstanding and the staff without exception just lovely. Every guest we spoke to said the same thing, that once you discover this hotel you will want to go back and we are already booking a second trip. Madeira is also a beautiful island with so much to do. This hotel is 5 stars in every way.

Les Suites stay

We are  still dreaming of our stay at Les Suites. We took our three adult kids to celebrate a college graduation and while planning, I agonized about where to stay. But I can say now that all of the five star reviews do not lie. This is the most fabulous hotel on the most beautiful property with the highest level of service.. It is not surprising that we met people who have stayed there numerous times. I booked directly through the hotel and the communication was great even before we arrived. We have some unique dietary needs (most of us vegan, one gluften free and one allergic to nuts). They bent over backwards to have delicious options for us. Les suites is modern, serene and stunning. Every suite has an incredible view (will never get over it) of the ocean and the town of Funchal, which is nestled into the mountain. The suites are incerdibly spacious and set up perfectly. all with gorgoue patios, some with their own outside areas with lawn chairs as well. Two of our kids shared a duplex which was amazing as it had two bathrooms. Their pool area was gorgeous with a giant infinity pool hanging over the ocean, and also facing the cliffs of Funchal. It was so relaxing and beautiful hanging out by the pool and hot tub. Les Suites is attached to the The Cliff Bay hotel and one has aacess to their amenities as well (more pools, a spa, another gym). That is where the sea access is and we used it a bunch of times - it was an easy walk to that side.  Les suites has its own beautiful gym and pilates room which I used every day. Breakfast overlooking the ocean each day was sublime and we also ate at Avista and Avista Asia or dinner. Both were incredible meals with fabulopus service. Again, they were amazing about accomodating about  our dietary needs. So, just stop wondering and book this hotel. Our adult kids loved it as much as we did and said it was the most luxurious place they had ever stayed. We will defintily be back!

Les Suites At The Cliff Bay provides 24-hour reception. Pets are not permitted on the premises. The car park may be useful to those arriving by car.
