First time here and will definitely be back.  We have always used our timeshare points in the UK before as could never get booked here. The apartment was very comfortable and clean, we had a one bed, beach front. The restaurant on-site is run by a third party and their staff were lovely, as was the food. The entertainment manager makes sure you enjoy your holiday - had fun at the wine tasting and he took us on a trip to a local the market - we used local buses to get around and explore. Entertainment is on 4 nights out of 7 and all acts were good. Compared to our timeshare in Forest Hill’s, this is better in terms of still providing the little extras in the apartment that Forest Hill’s used to eg cloth napkins etc.

A very chilled week at Dons Lola!

This past weekend and a few weekdays, we headed to Malága Spain (actually Mijas) on Spain’s Costa Del Sol.  I now can see why this area is the foremost tourist destination in Spain. 
We were there to catch up with a couple of Pat’s cousins who were vacationing there at the MacDonald Doña Lola resort about 40 minutes south of Malága.  The resort (owned and run by a UK firm) was guite beautiful, excellently manicured and rather self-contained.  There were two pools; a “quiet” one and a 3/4 circular one that wrapped around their beach restaurant.  Near reception was the other on-site restaurant that served breakfast thru early dinner (except that it was closed on Tuesday - which is another story).  Outside the beach restaurant, outside the confines of the resort, and stretching for miles, was a paved pathway that ran along the Mediterranean.  The water was a bit rough and the weather consistently on the coolish side (mid - upper 60’s and low 70’s).  The actual beach area hadn’t been groomed for the season yet and there were may massive stone outcroppings.  Still beautiful.  

There was only one real negative - as I mentioned the restaurant near reception was closed on Tuesday and, while there were at least a half dozen restaurants tagged on to the property, none were open - they all opened late in the afternoon.  So we asked at the reception if the other beach restaurant was open for breakfast - yes, at 9:30am.  So we walked down to the beach and there, attached to the locked gate was a sign : Opens at 12:30!  It’s hard to believe that the people at reception didn’t even know when their restaurants were open.

But!  There was two real highlights.  The first was a spa area with indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and Turkish bath.  All free to guests.  We spent some time in the hot tub (not really hot enough) and the sauna, definitely hot enough which was a real treat since we really, really miss our hot tub (Arizona).  The other highlight was Francisco.  He was THE activity director.  In the mornings he lead a walking group as well as other activities into the early afternoon.  One of the afternoon activities was “Spanish” classes - one beginner and one intermediate.  On Monday, both Pat and I took both.  On Tuesday I took the intermediate class and learned more in that one hour than I had learned in all of the online and face-to-face immersive sessions we had.  He taught me (us - I shared them with Pat who had gone to Gibraltar with her cousins) the short cuts - that you really don’t need to learn all 14 tenses of a verb to speak intelligently.  This was a miracle!  Just two formulas to produce past, present and future conversation.

We returned to Valencia on Wednesday afternoon - it was a memorable excursion.

A few days on the Costa del Sol

been coming here for 25 years ,we have a timeshare but i am afraid , the days are numbered . i am sitting here right now as i type this and at 70 it is relaxing but all the little extras that we did get at beginning are now gone , and i also at a glance the room looks clean but not 100% anymore

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was very comfortable.  Sofa in the living area could have been better, but it was a sofabed so not so good in sofa mode.  We booked as a hotel and so assumed that normal hotel conditions apply and so daily cleaning and refresh of toiletries would happen, but none of this was included.  The rest of the resort was very nice with decent facilities loads of places to eat inside or just outside the premises.  The pools were good and direct beach access was great too.

Lovely setting right on beach ⛱️.  Lovely staff exceptionally clean apartments & grounds. Value for money  me personally think the apartments are overpriced. Stayed for 9 nights had a towl change & empty of bins, when asked at reception of a change of sheets we were told 45 euros per person each!!wich is down right rip off so iff you're a big family with young kids be aware.  Booking.com should have mentioned that they charge for linen change. Never in nearly 40 years of travelling I've had to pay for that! Calahonda very quiet nothing there apart from a handful of restaurants & a supermarket, & charity shop. across a very busy motorway.  didn't feel like we were in Spain full of retirement folk & mostly English. Bt iff that's what you're into bt choose one from one of the owners as they will have a washing machine.

Located in the Tower of Cala Honda, Macdonald Dona Lola Apartments offers spacious apartments with balconies. Its position will provide the clients direct access to the beach and a good highway connection to get Marbella or Malaga in less than 30 minutes by car.

Special Information COVID-19 Our opening times are the following 

•	To begin with, the reception will be opened from 9 AM to 3 PM from Monday to Thursday; and from 9 AM to 6 PM from Friday to Sunday. A porter service will be available after those times.
•	Maintenance and Housekeeping will be available from 10 AM to 3 PM. 
•	Initially the pools will open from 9 AM to 18:30 PM. We remind you that the reservation of sunbeds is not permitted, and the number of guests allowed at the pool will be controlled due to the current situation.
•	In first instance the children's club and other activities will not be available.
•	Taking into consideration the situation we are facing, the indoor pool and gym will remain closed until further notice.
•	The Beauty center will be opened from 10 AM to 8 PM. Appointment is required.
•	La Plaza beach restaurant will be opened from 11 AM to 11 PM. Take away/delivery service will be available at all times.
