Christina was so helpful when I had make a special request ahead of my parents arrival. My family has been visiting hotel balcon consecutively now for 3 years , they adore it, fantastic hotel, excellent staff, ideal location,5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Found this hotel on Expedia. Looked at all the room options and chose a room described as having a King bed and two singles. We are a couple with a teenage son so this sounded fine. A little pricey at nearly 300 euros per night but the location looked beautiful so we indulged.
Upon check in, I was told that I had reserved a room with a king bed and a crib for an infant. I proceeded to show them my reservation thru Expedia which described the room as I had stated to them. They told me that it was an issue I had to resolve with Expedia and that they had no such rooms in the hotel. I protested and asked to speak to the manager whom they said was not on property. I asked to have a phone call with the manager, and suddenly he appeared out of the back office.
I patiently went to the Expedia website and showed the manager that they were offering a room with a King and two twin beds and he said that it must be a mistake by Expedia and that the best they could do for me was to charge me another 100 euros for an extra bed in our room. After a slightly heated back and forth, we settled on a 70 euro extra charge for the bed because I did not want to keep wasting my precious vacation time arguing in the lobby of the hotel.
When we got to the room it didn’t even have a king bed. It was two twin beds pushed together and a small cot that my son’s feet hung off the end. 
We then went to the restaurant for dinner(as we had paid for it when we reserved the room). It was the worst and most scant buffet I have ever had. We barely touched the food and decided to leave.
That night, the air conditioning system in our room made strange noises which impeded our sleep. 
All in all, I would say that this hotel is only about the location. It is dated and overpriced and the staff carries an air of obnoxious superiority and no intention of helping the customers.
The only highlight was Veronica our housekeeper who went out of her way to be nice and help us. Kudos to her!
Nerja is beautiful but there seem to be much better options than this hotel. Avoid it for the sake of your vacation!

Not worth the price, worst experience so far on our 3 week vacation

We have just returned from 10 days at the Hotel Balcon de Europa. It was beautiful! The location is central to the old part of Nerja and right on a small cove. There are two larger beaches in easy walking distance. 
We had a sea view room with Balcony and it was lovely. The furnishings are traditional and very colourful and the bed was super comfortable. The air conditioning worked well and the room was thoroughly cleaned on each day of our stay apart from one and that was only because we were in our room frequently during the day. 
The staff were welcoming and always able to help us with advice when asked. The staff in the outside bar worked so hard and always tried to serve us quickly. 
We were booked for bed and breakfast and found it to be excellent. There was lots of choice, both hot and cold food and it all seemed freshly prepared. The staff again were attentive and always ready with delicious hot coffee! The view from the hotel restaurant is just breathtaking.

There is a very small pool on the 5th floor with sun loungers and then an areas on the ground floor next to the cove with sun loungers and the Club Nautico restaurant. We had lunch there on a few occasions and can thoroughly recommend the food. The prawn and avocado salad was amazing and the hamburger was excellent and perfectly cooked. 

I read other reviews that said that the furnishings and the hotel was generally 'tired' and in need of renovation. We really didn't experience this at all. The hotel is charming, clean and comfortable. If you like large sparkling modern hotels then perhaps the Balcon isn't for you but if you value good service, authentic surroundings and excellent quality and value for money then I would recommend that you try it!
I also read a review that said that the noise of the waves became annoying, again this was not our experience, it was lovely to sit on the balcony or by the cove listening to the waves and to be honest booking a hotel by the sea is not the best idea if waves breaking on the shore and the rocks bothers you! 
We'll definitely be back to stay at the Balcon in the future, we just loved it!

An excellent hotel in a perfect location

Excellent hotel and staff very friendly. Special shout out to Paco and his team as couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely be returning to this gem of a hotel 😎. Beautiful views from the balcony. Only criticism more fresh fruit required rather than tinned fruit salad.

Beautiful hotel

Just back after an amazing week staying at the hotel . Fantastic room, comfy clean and great view. Staff were excellent, friendly,efficient and helpful.Beach was lovely. Breakfast choice was excellent. Location is fantastic. Over all an excellent holiday.

Excellent Hotel

This attractive hotel offers stunning views over sandy La Caletilla Beach. Nerja's old town with its attractive lanes and shops is just a few metres away. The public transport network is located just 300 m away and Málaga Airport is about 45 minutes away. Business guests will be happy to know that there are venues to host business meetings, conferences and other private events. The restaurant and bar offer exquisite food and beverages as well as wonderful surroundings. In their leisure time guests can visit the onsite gym or rest and relax in the swimming pool area with deckchairs and parasols. The rooms decorated with vibrant tones are well equipped with the necessary amenities to make each stay the most memorable one.
