Pool

A great 7 days at Barcelo, 6th time in 7 years and we will continue returning in the future. Although the hotel has changed drastically over the years, it always stays a consistently good destination.
We stayed under the Deluxe All inclusive package.

Drinks
- A much larger menu than the previous AI 2022 & 2018 menu now that it has merged the previous AI+ offering with AI.
- Cocktails are well made, and slushy versions of the popular ones are available at the pool bar which was a nice change since the last visit.
- Sadly a few old favourites are no longer there (Coco loco, Mai Tai) although I did  request a custom made one which worked fine after showing the ingredient list.
- At times there can be a large queue, but later in the week the queues only happened at the pool bar and service at the show bar was much better.

One thing I wish could be implemented is instead of creating a long line from the show bar, let everyone gather round like they used to in all our previous stays.

Food
- Great selection especially in the deluxe area, even the main buffet always had a few great live cooked foods worth waiting for.
- Temperature of food is the same as most other 4&5* resorts, if anyone complains about the temperature being lukewarm they should just stick to A la carte's since no buffet i've ever been to has piping hot food.

Entertainment & activities

- A few good nights especially Mag Marin which was a highlight, and the circus act Miscalanea
- something that was disappointing is there are no more in-house entertainment evenings (Lion king, greatest showman) performed by the Activv team 2017-2019; it would be great to get these again as it separated barcelo against other hotels.
- Daily activities seem a bit sterile compared to what they used to be as we used to chat to the activv team, but it seems like the personal experiences have been sacrificed for a more professional appearance. 
Archery and air rifles I understand were banned countrywide, but cocktail games in the early afternoon used to be fun little games but nothing ever happened for them this time. I also miss cocktail making/drinks making.

Room
- Great as always with the ocean views and the room is good now that it has walk-in showers compared to the old bathtubs.

Spa/Gym
- New additions to the gym and updated equipment is great for workouts, enough in there  for full body sessions. 
- The spa is still great although i've noticed the temperatures were reduced from the best levels in 2017 - 2019 (e..g steam room, caldarium, tepidarium) probably for cost savings, but it would be nicer to have them increased again.
- Also the musicarium & steam room doesn't seem to have had working music since 2018.

Overall the hotel is still worth the cost even with the increase most likely due to inflation, it'll be great to head back soon!

6th Visit, more to come

I had a beautiful stay at Barcelo mar was my first solo trip and I absolutely loved it 
Will definitely be visiting again 

We stayed there (family of 5 adults) in June 2024 - liked everything about the hotel. Everywhere is very clean - food is very good - great range of choices (maybe could be a bit more varied for dinner). Pools are big with lots of sunbeds - close proximity to the beach. Staff are excellent. Our first time staying there but will definitely go back.

Excellent hotel

We stayed here in June 2024 for a week with our two older teenage boys. We found the hotel excellent. The facility’s were brilliant and the boys loved the gym. The only thing lacking in our opinion is no self laundry facility’s and the service the hotel offer is expensive so take enough clothes. Food was great and everyone could find something they wanted. Would definitely visit again. 

Great hotel in a great location

Just back from an 11 night stay. This hotel is fabulous. Every time we stay we never want to return home. The hotel is really clean and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are cleaned daily with towels and bed linen changed frequently. Food is great with plenty of choices. Although it was starting to get busier when we left there were always plenty of sun beds and the pools are lovely. Location is great for the beach, bars and restaurants. 
Hopefully we will be booking again for December to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Can’t wait!

Fabulous Hotel

This magnificent hotel is beautifully nestled in the district of Antigua, just by Caleta de Fuste beach. The wonderful local harbour as well as shopping options, restaurants and bars can be easily reached on foot. Guests will be able to find convenient public transport links approximately 300 metres from the hotel. The airport is around 7 km away and the capital of the island, Puerto de Rosario, is 12 km from the hotel. This is a perfect location to spend a sunny holiday by the sea.
