Matagorda

On the Southeast coast of Lanzarote lies the resort of Playa de Matagorda. It is a suburb of the much larger resort Puerto del Carmen, which is a five minutes’ drive away. It acts as an alternative to the larger resort for a much more relaxed atmosphere. The town is just 5km away from the international airport.

Matagorda boasts plenty of lovely sandy beaches and a vast number of restaurants and bars to choose from. Most holidaymakers visit to Matagorda revolve around a beach holiday, as the resort holds over 6km of golden sand beaches there is plenty of space for everyone.

Due to the areas proximity to Puerto del Carmen, the list of things to do is endless and is either in the resort of Matagorda or a short ride into Puerto del Carmen. This includes all kinds of watersports and beach activities as well as nightlife and shopping opportunities. Arrecife, the islands capital, is just 15 minutes’ drive away where there are more cultural places to visit such as a few castles, museums and a fortress. Arrecife is known as a haven for a spot of shopping.
