This was our 2nd time staying at the Princesa Yaiza. The previous time we stayed in the family section but this time we stayed in the main hotel in an interconnecting room. We have 2 teenagers so these rooms were perfect - plenty of space and both rooms had their own balcony.  
The hotel is spotlessly clean in all areas and really well maintained. There is a huge buffet breakfast with plenty of choice for everyone. We ate out at night time as there is a great selection of restaurants in the area. The Marina is a 5-10 minute walk on one side of the hotel with a number of lovely restaurants to choose from. 5-10 minutes on the other side brings you down to Playa Blanca where again there are a number of restaurants, bars & shops. The beach is directly across the road.

There is plenty for the kids to do - a number of swimming pools, games room with pool table, table tennis etc. They also had the use of the soccer pitch next door in Kikoland and had a great soccer match organised by the staff on one of their trips to play soccer.  For younger kids, there are lots of events and entertainment daily.

I would highly recommend the Princesa Yaiza and we will certainly be returning again.

Fabulous Holiday

Where do I begin.  We have two kids ages 8 and 5.  We have been here two years in a row, three separate trips, all great.  My review is long overdue.  The hotel is in a beautiful location on the water and by the walking path to the marina and the small city center.  The staff is amazing and very accommodating. There are two areas of the hotel - one where they have waterview rooms, the adult pool and another pool for everyone including all the restaurants, lobby.  There is another wing, where they have family rooms. It is not on the water, but they are two bedroom apartments with kitchenettes and two bathrooms, as well as its own pool and kids’ pool.  It is SO great for families. The rooms and the hotel are not super modern and could use a little upkeep for a 5-star but the service and experience completely make up for any minor shortcomings.  And, a short walk through the tunnel or across the street to the main hotel.  There is a small grocery store connected to the family wing.  They have great restaurants…. The Japanese steakhouse is great and fun for one night.  The breakfast and the dinner buffets are excellent.  The best part is the kids experience.  Kikoland and its staff members are just the best. Our kids absolutely love the Kikoland staff. I think it caters to kids under 10 but even my now 8 year old daughter, still wants to go back.  They have a great disco every night, which our kids would not miss. We highly recommend this hotel to families with kids.

In terms of the location, the hotel is ideally located on the beach promenade with easy access in either direction to the local town, cafes, bars, many restaurants and the beautiful harbour and shopping areas.
The suites are very spacious and clean, although little extras such as tissues, cutlery and plates to accompany the use the microwave and dining table would be useful.
We had bed and breakfast, so cannot comment on the quality of the food and service and lunch and dinner as we prefer to use local restaurants nearby. Buffet breakfasts were very good in terms of quality and with a wide variety of options, though the small birds flying around and sampling some of the food in one of the restaurants was off-putting.
The most disappointing aspect was the poolside. Although there are four pools (one at a different part of the main complex in Zone D which was mainly for children, a small children's pool adjoining the heated 'upper' pool and a large unheated adults only 'lower' pool). The temperature of the adults pool even in the height of summer was so cold at it was very rarely used. For families with children the 'upper' heated pool was fine. 
However. the sunbeds are so closely packed alongside each other that movement around the beds is really difficult. You cannot even stand between some of the sunbeds and there's insufficient space to pull them further away in order to obtain some distance from other families. The large, fixed sun umbrellas may cover those who may not want the shade while others perhaps do.  
Security was lacking. Although the rear gate was accessible only with a guest key, it was unattended and often left open. On one occasion, a young boy easily climbed over the low fence next to the gate and opened the door for his accompanying adult. 
Whilst we were there, we celebrated our wedding anniversary and it would have been appreciated had this been recognised when we displayed anniversary cards in our room without the need to formally advise. 
Overall, just satisfactory. Certainly not worth the money we paid. In our experience, having been to Playa Blanca three times in the past year, there are better hotels very nearby along the promenade.

There are 3 bars casual, chic and poolside  and 2 outdoor pools, 1 in a kids' play area. Other amenities include a spa and a fitness center.
