Birthday Evening

Preskil Hotel resort, a great experience for my family and I. We got there tired from the flight and greeted by cheerful staff from the security. This was our first time in Mauritius and Preskil gave a good impression!
Joan Boodia received us well and checked us in. In collaboration with her staff, we were offered towels and a drink on arrival. 
Joan escorted us to our room. Rooms were always clean. We left for the north part of the island and the hotel helped us get a ride to the north. Upon our return from the north, the experience was the same, we were lucky to meet Joan again, and she remembered us, and again, her warm reception and attention to detail is amazing.
Views from Preskil Island are spectacular. Staff is always checking if you are ok sharing services for the day.
I recommend Preskil. Close to the airport too!

Service par excellence!

Firstly the positives of which there were many... The location is great as its a nice quiet part of Mauritius and just 15mins from the airport and 5mins from Blue Bay Marine Park where there are many good priced options to go snorkeling.  The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The decor is lovely and the general feel of the place is relaxed and friendly.  This would absolutely be a 5 star hotel experience if they could sort out the one thing that REALLY let them down.... the food.  There are 3 restaurant options, buffet, Mosaic and 1810.  Mosaic has a VERY limited menu. I had steak which was like trying to eat a car tyre as it was difficult enough to cut with a knife and therefor very difficult to chew. There were a few more options on the menu which you had to pay extra for.  1810 is the restaurant on the beach, which is VERY expensive so we didn't us it as an all inclusive holiday to Mauritius is expensive enough.  So, we used the buffet for the 10 days.  It was small, with limited options and very repetitive. The salad bar was tiny, shredded cabbage and carrots. No tomatoes to be seen but if you were lucky you got a few cucumbers. Pasta mixed with a bit of pesto and a table fork to dish it out (impossible!). Spaghetti mixed with tinned tomatoes, very bland. Grilled fish option every day. Where is the variety in fish options? I was expecting a huge array of fish dishes so was very disappointed. Fruit options were poor and they even used tinned fruit! I could go on....  Also, once you were seated at a table, you had to wait for a waitress or waiter to take your drinks order. By the time it finally arrived you were eating desert which is so frustrating. However the worst thing of al lfor me was the fact that I contacted the hotel weeks before we arrived to tell them it was a special 'end of treatment' holiday for my 14 year old who has spent the last year battling cancer. I asked if there was anything they could do to make it extra special for her.  Their offering was a bunch of 4 balloons in our room. Someone at dinner who just had a birthday had a birthday cake baked and presented to them. Doesn't quite seem fair to me?  Never mind, it was always going to be a once in a lifetime holiday for us so we won't be going back.

Stunning hotel let down by AWFUL food

The hotel is average on their service for a 4 star hotel. The food was below average. The beds are not comfortable.  We stayed for 7 nights and couldn’t wait to go home. Their rating should be dropped to a 3 star hotel. I waited 30min for the porter
