Our family group of 8 had the pleasure of staying at Zilwa from 8th to 20th June. 
The hotel is absolutely beautiful. With spectacular views, secluded places to sit and take it all in and the most amazing staff. We all agreed this is the most relaxed we’ve ever felt on holiday.

ROOMS - very comfortable with the quietest ceiling fan! We all slept very well.

THE GARDENS - the staff worked tirelessly and the gardens were immaculate.

THE BEACH - before coming I was a bit concerned about the beach, yes it is gritty sand rather than powdered, and the sea is shallow, but it was absolutely fine. The lagoon is very still, so great for children and we had fun walking along the shore looking at the small fish and the shrimp, larger fish and crabs along the rocks. Always plenty of sun beds whatever time of day we went to the beach, so no need to get up at the crack of dawn to get one. Every day we were able to get 8 loungers together.
A big thank you to LENSLEY who bought us an endless supply of drinks, always with a smile. It was a pleasure chatting to you my friend, we miss you.

GRAN ZIL - definitely worth having lunch here during your stay, the BBQ and staff were excellent.

THE ENTERTAINMENT TEAM -  One of my favourite parts of the holiday was sitting under a tree listening to FABIAN, SYLVANO AND STAN singing and playing the guitar and cajon, so relaxing, lovely to hear the creole songs, thank you all.
KURVIN and FABIAN we miss your lovely smiles and the calls for Aqua Gym, which we also enjoyed very much along with the beach soccer.
Another mention for ELISSA for looking out for our daughter.

SIRO KAAN BAR - What a view! One you will never forget. Think we managed to work our way through the cocktail list and all the drinks were great, thank you all for your service. Although we were a larger group we were never avoided or left with empty glasses. All our drinks came very quickly, all delivered with a smile too. Thank you to PAUL, EBENIZIR, NISHI, DANY and SATYAM, it was a pleasure to meet you all. 
A special thank you to ARVIN too, who arranged sparkling wine to be delivered to our table when he found out it was my birthday, a lovely touch.

PIROGUE BAR - great place to sit with a drink and a chat with the lovely DARSUN, alwYs served with a smile.

KOT NOU - We ate here mid holiday and enjoyed the food cooked by FARESH very much, lovely to try some local cuisine. My favourite dishes were the dry beef curry and the banana dish. Definitely worth a visit. NOORINA and MOHUN were the best hosts, they were very attentive and the vanilla rum flowed freely! We did try to book a second meal her but weren’t able to get a table. We popped down one evening to see if they had empty tables and Noorina and Mohun welcomed us with open arms once more. Faresh pulled out all the stops for us; your food and hospitality were amazing, thank you all.

LOR DISAB - a wonderful experience, once again with top class food and service from lovely people. We very much enjoyed chatting with JAMES and the rest of the staff, another two memorable evenings, thank you all.

KARAY - Always tasty fresh food on offer and plenty of staff too.

THE SPA - three of our party had a Mauritian massage and said the spa was so beautiful and relaxing, definitely worth booking.

Whilst there we celebrated two birthdays and were treated to birthday cakes and special treatment from wonderful staff; you made our days, thank you all.

It was really easy to change up larger notes to smaller notes for tips at reception and the check out was swift and easy too.

We loved the bulk shop.

We cannot recommend this hotel enough and hope to come back one day soon.

Best Holiday Ever

Zilwa Attitude Hotel Review

My family and I recently stayed at Zilwa Attitude and had an overall wonderful experience. The hotel felt well-designed and aesthetically pleasing, just as I expected a hotel in Mauritius to look. The decor was lovely, but what truly took our breath away were the beautiful views from the hotel and its layout. The pools, trees, and lush nature all made us feel like we were in a well-kept and maintained hotel. This was our first family holiday abroad with our young children, and they had a fantastic time. It really was a magical and unforgettable holiday that we will cherish.

Room Service and Staff:

- Tesaven, our room service attendant, did an excellent job of keeping our room spotless every day.
- Ayush, the beach waiter, provided outstanding service at the poolside bar. He always made sure we had drinks and were comfortable.
- A bald gentleman at the bar near the main entrance also stood out for his charismatic charm. He made sure we were well taken care of, and playfully insisting on 'one more drink'!
- Other staff members were also very kind and attentive, ensuring our stay was great, although I didn't catch their names. All staff were pleasant and respectful at all times. However, some occasionally lacked attention to detail and awareness.

Main Buffet Area:

The main buffet experience had some drawbacks due to the layout and lack of staff in the buffet area itself, though not around the tables where you ate. There were a few empty stations that could have been made use of, and they ran out of plates too often. The wait for items like omelettes was a bit long at times, with only one person cooking. However, the food itself was good, offering a variety of cereals, typical breakfast items like sausages and bacon, fruit, yoghurts, croissants, and more. It provided everything we needed, though it didn't particularly stand out.

The dining experience, especially at the middle island eating area surrounded by water, was very special. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere with beautiful views of the beach and sea, making it a delightful place to eat.

Main Bar Area:

Waiters did come up to you occasionally, but not frequently enough. I found myself walking to the bar more often than having someone come to us. The cocktails were not particularly impressive; I often stuck to beer or just one type of cocktail because of this. I'm not sure if it's the local liquors they use, but they weren't great.

The atmosphere and setting were lovely, especially in the beautiful summer evenings with the gorgeous sunsets and a feel-good vibe in a relaxed setting. We never struggled to find a table, although I can imagine some guests did. They had a nice selection of card and board games to enjoy, and while the entertainment was quite simple, it was pleasant enough.

However, it wasn't the best setting for children. After dinner, we headed to the main bar and allowed our kids to play and dance, but the "dance floor" was also a busy walkway where guests were passing through and waiters were carrying drinks. This made it hard to unwind and let the kids burn off some energy before bedtime. One evening, a male waiter frustrated us by taking my son's stool without asking while he was dancing. It was a shame because everyone was enjoying watching him go back and forth.

Restaurants:

We dined at all the restaurants during our stay, and they were delightful! The Indian restaurant offered great food. The Mauritian restaurant was also enjoyable, despite not having the best location or surroundings, but the food was wonderful. Our favorite was the Thai restaurant, which had the best food, location, and atmosphere. I recommend arriving 15 minutes before your reservation, or even earlier, to ensure an outside table overlooking the Thai garden.

Another evening option was the barbecue restaurant near the heated pool. Unfortunately, we couldn't go there because kids are not allowed, which I found quite strange and disappointing. It was probably my favorite daytime restaurant, and I would have liked to visit it in the evening. While I understand that some guests prefer a child-free dining experience, it is a family-friendly hotel, so this was a thumbs down for us.

Beach and Pool Areas:

The beach at Zilwa Attitude was visually lovely but had some practical issues. The coral sand was rough on the feet, making it a bit uncomfortable to sit on or dig and build sandcastles with the kids. The sea had a lot of coral weed, which wasn't the most pleasant to walk on since you couldn't see what you were stepping on. Pure sand would have been nicer and encouraged more swimming, but nothing can be done about that. Most guests, including us, tended to stand in the shallows rather than swim.

We didn't spend as much time on the beach as we thought we would because of these reasons. Instead, we spent more time around the heated pool, which was well-maintained and great for the kids. This pool was conveniently located next to the bar and the outdoor barbecue restaurant, which we really enjoyed. The restaurant served a nice selection of barbecue food, including different meats, fish, salads, pastas, and more.

Stray dogs and cats around the beach and pool areas were a nuisance, especially with young children. One large dog in particular kept approaching us, and the staff seemed unaware of the issue. It was annoying to have to constantly shoo the animals away while eating, with dogs and cats staring at you from meters away. The staff should be doing a better job of keeping them away to ensure guests can relax without interruptions. They seemed completely unaware most of the time. They were bothering all of the guests, not just us, and guests couldn't allow their kids to play on the beach when the animals were around for obvious reasons.

Despite these issues, the natural beauty of the beach and pool areas was undeniable. The hotel’s surroundings were lush and beautiful, with well-kept trees, plants and bushes adding to the overall charm. Improving comfort and convenience around the pools and beach would significantly enhance the guest experience. However, it was a very special and nice place to relax when the stray animals weren't bothering everyone. Seeing our children learn to swim confidently here made the holiday and was definitely a highlight!

Additional Points:

- The hotel could improve by offering more family-friendly activities, such as games, to keep the kids entertained.
- Mosquitoes weren't an issue for us. My kids and I didn't get bitten, though my wife got a few bites. I recommend using mosquito repellent stickers for kids and placing them under their clothes. They seemed effective, and we also used them on our beds at night.
- Be cautious when walking in the sea. I got stung by something I stepped on, and my foot was swollen for a few days. Another guest saw a black-and-white snake bury itself in the shallows. I was unlucky, but it's all part of the fun. There are lots of crabs, but they are no bother. If you walk further out around the rocks, you'll see big red and orange ones. The kids loved it.
- I highly recommend taking the boat to the island for a barbecue and a more private beach experience. This spot was better for kids, with no stray dogs and trees providing shelter from the wind. You can go on a mini adventure around the island and over the rocks to other small islands.

Overall, despite a few downsides, we had a magical and memorable holiday that we will never forget! :) I'm quite picky and have very high standards, so what bothered me might not be an issue for most.

Kot Nou

We had the most amazing meal here!!  The flavours were so different - we will definitely be coming back!!  Noorina, Mohun and Shaan made us very welcome and looked after us beautifully all evening!!  Definitely worth visiting if you are staying at Zilwa Attitude😊

Kot Nou restaurant

We had an amazing 10 night stay at Zilwa.  The best thing about the trip had to be the staff, they were all so friendly and could not do enough for you. Special mentions go to Lensley and Ayush for bringing us drinks on the beach, Ashley from the Thai restaurant and Shabina, our housekeeper. 

The food was also great at Zilwa, in particular the a la carte food really impressed us. We also loved the juice bar and the kind man working there made us two juices in pineapples at the end of our stay!

The room was well equipped with everything we needed and the hotel itself was beautiful. The pools are all on different levels which makes them feel very secluded. 

In the evenings we enjoyed drinks from the bar staff whilst listening to the lovely live music that happens every night for around 1-2 hours.

We would 100% recommend Zilwa!
