Fun hotel for Kids & Family. Loved the water park and restaurants. Delicious food at all of the restaurants. Loved the swim up bars. Great staff and clean rooms. Alot of great views. Good and safe transportation. Highly recommend Sky Bar. Ask for Jonathan

Had a great time. We came with two other families.

There are lots of nice things about this resort, I personally don’t think it is worth the money.

Rooms. 
the room layout is very crowded.  When entering the room, you go down a dark narrow hallway, it is not inviting or kid friendly.  This is listed as a one bedroom suite, but calling it a one bedroom is a stretch.  There are big sliding doors that shut off the king bed to the other area, but it, makes the room feel dark and sterile. The king bed itself is nice and comfortable. 

If you have little kids with you, the  fold out bed situation is probably ok, but not great for teens and young adults. The Sitting area has a Murphy bed & and a small fold out couch. The fold out couch is only big enough for 2  small kids or one adult/teen.  The Murphy bed is a twin and not comfortable at all.  The fold out couch is about as comfortable as expected for a couch, so not ideal for anyone older than 10. 

If you get a double room, the difference is 2 queen beds and one small fold out couch. There is no privacy between the beds and the couch.

In both kinds of room, There are 2 bathrooms in the room, one next to the king sized bed  or queens, and the other one by the door. We didn’t know the second bathroom was there for the first few hours because the door looked like a maintenance closet. But we were very glad when we did find it.

All the rooms have swim up pools, so that is a cool feature. The upper levels have more of a lap lane. The first floor has a wider pool with a bar on each end. 
Anyone can use the lower level pool.

Beach. 
The beach or really lack of beach  is terrible. There is next to no place to sit and the ocean area is filled with rocks and cement blocks that were washed up from a hurricane a few years ago.  I realize that this was the result of a natural disaster, but  the beach looks nothing like the photos in the advertisements. So that was a huge letdown. And yes it has lots of red grass. 

3. Resort layout.  
The hotel area itself has 3 restaurants on it. One is open for lunch (Mexican) the other 2 for dinner (burgers & Buffett).

For breakfast you have to take the shuttle about a mile down the road to the lobby area. The spatula buffet is the only breakfast option other than room service. (open from 7:00-noon)
The lobby area also has an Italian restaurant by reservation for dinner. 
The 3rd buffet the is at the water park, open for lunch hours only. The water park is located in yet another building that you can take a shuttle to or walk from the lobby. 

Food: 
food was for the most part ok, nothing special. The sit down  were extremely slow and random as to what dishes came out, but when the food did come it was very good
The buffets were about as expected. Some items are ok, others were not good at all or cold.  

Waterpark: 
The water park is ok. There is a big lazy river and lots of slides. There is a tiny wave pool and also a rock climbing pool area. 
They put on games every few hours in the middle of the park over all nothing special or different from other standard waterparks, except most other waterparks have a much bigger wave pool. 

Cost: this resort is on the high end of the resorts in the area. I don’t think it is worth the price what so ever, there are so many  other hotel options that have similar amenities fora  better price,

Final thoughts.
This resort is not for me. It is has a cold cement feel and there is not good way to walk to most of the resort. Having to constantly wait for a shuttle bus  is a big pain, and it really takes away from the enjoyment of the trip.

Not worth the money and misleading

We had the best vacation at The Nickelodeon Hotel, Riviera Maya! There is truly nothing bad that we can say about our 8 day stay here.  We probably utilized all the services on our vacation. Everything was top notch: the food, the restaurants, ambiance, waterpark, entertainment, the doctor on site, and the SERVICE stood out above all. Our concierge, Eric Lopez, was exceptional, and helped us partake in the character breakfast, cabanas at the waterpark, and the spa. He helped to make our experience wonderful! He is one of a kind, and all-around great guy, so make sure you request him. 

The waterpark was amazing and we couldn’t get our kiddo to leave. We were always able to find open chairs, and the food at the waterpark was great! Our kiddo’s favorite was the unlimited ice cream. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for shuttles to pick us up or drop us off at any time.  

Our favorite restaurant was the Italian restaurant where the food and service were next level.  Additionally, the spa is amazing and I got one of the best massages i have ever had.  So many great things at this resort that I could go on at great length.  We can’t wait to come back and bring our family and friends with us.

Best Family Vacation

I would give the resort 4.5 stars if that was an option, but it’s only allowing me to choose either 4 or 5. 

We traveled as a family of 5– my husband and me and our three kids, 10, 8, and 6. We found many of our concerns about the hotel from reviews unfounded and overall had a wonderful time. We stayed for four nights. 

Positives:
-The room fit our family well. It’s sometimes hard to find rooms to fit five. My husband and I particularly enjoyed being able to close off our room— I tend to wake up to every noise when our kids are sleeping with us. It also was very dark!  The kids didn’t complain about their beds. The two younger slept together on the couch bed and my oldest on the Murphy bed. We had plenty of space. 
-The balcony pool is a highlight!  A little chilly for me, but that’s because the rest of the pools in the park (and ocean) were 87-89 and this was 81. It’s worth noting you do share your pool with adjacent rooms. However, we never saw our neighbors at all. 
-I was happy to see there was beach access. The Caribbean ocean is so much prettier than the Pacific we’re used to at home!  Not a ton of chairs, but we never had a problem. We seemed to go when it wasn’t very busy. 
-It was surprisingly not busy. We aren’t sure if it wasn’t busy or if it never feels busy. Even the waterpark felt not busy. We only had lines for slides a few times and never had problems finding a chair anywhere in the park. 
-We were worried about the shuttle system from the rooms to the waterpark based on reviews we read. We rarely waited at all.  It’s just one short shuttle ride to get to either the main building or the waterpark and you can walk from the main building to the waterpark. 
-Most staff were friendly and accommodating. I appreciated a guy who saw me at the pool and asked if I wanted to know anything about spa packages. I booked a massage and he helped us fix something we charged wrong. Then he remembered my name two days later! That was nice. 
-We enjoyed the food. We tried all the restaurants. We didn’t realize the Yacht one was a rotating buffet until our third day. The presentations were great and we enjoyed trying new things. I wouldn’t say anything was the best thing I ever ate, but we enjoyed it. Having the buffet at the waterpark was a great perk! I loved the tacos to order. 
-The kids’ drinks were a highlight!  They made so many fun drinks for the kids and my kids felt so special. From slime to smoothies and nonalcoholic daiquiris- also fun chocolate milk with whipped cream and candies. This is something we’ve never experienced at an all inclusive and showed how geared the resort is for kids.  
-Team Nick was fun and great for the kids! My husband said it was like having a dad hired to play with them in the pool and give parents a break. 
-We enjoyed the shows and especially the Magic shows in Snick Lounge. Really fun for the kids and entertaining for adults. 
-Super clean. We are big Disney goers and always notice Disney staff cleaning and repairing things. We noticed this here and it was great. 
-The theming is fun- appeals to kids and 90s kids that are parents, but still feels sophisticated. 
-We paid for late check out and got to enjoy the waterpark and amenities until our shuttle to the airport left. Made it feel like we got an extra day almost!
-Shuttle services to and from the airport were easy and seamless. 
-TV had lots of kids channels (to be expected I guess). 
-The staff was SO good about taking pictures with our phones. They did a great job with them too and even did videos. This made up for prices of photos for sure. I am thankful for this!

Things that could have been improved:
-The app leaves much to be desired. Could have more info for sure. 
-The TVs said they were “smart TVs” but didn’t have smart capabilities. It wasn’t a big deal- just noticed. We thought the kids might turn on our Netflix and they could not. 
-My kids were disappointed the family sliming wasn’t real slime. It’s just green water. Still fun, but we kind of wish we knew. 
-By far the most disappointing thing was the merchandise. It is SO expensive. I noted we are Disney fans- we are used to spending a lot and spending a lot on expensive merch. This stuff was crazy. Sunscreen- over $40. The hat I bought today- $88. A large SpongeBob stuffed animal- over $400!  My kid got a small Squidward stuffy- $67. They set their own exchange rate too so we wish we had pesos. My kids had only saved up about $30 each and couldn’t even buy anything besides one thing we bought them.  The worst was my son got a hat that was discounted that said Nickelodeon Resorts on it as his souvenir. It was $46. He left it on a chair on the beach (a resort chair) by accident. It was gone when we realized and we called to see if there was a lost and found. It’s the same hat staff wears sometimes so we don’t know what happened, but he ended up leaving without a souvenir. We spoke to the front desk and tried to see if it was anywhere to be found or if they could do anything. I know we couldn’t have expected Nickelodeon to replace it for free, however we did have the receipt and other companies would have done so without a question. It was just disappointing to spend so much on merchandise and that happening. They were a little less friendly at the stores as well than the people we encountered elsewhere. I would have loved to buy a picture package but it was hundreds of dollars. 
-There was confusion on things and I think that was our language barrier. However we’d ask when things opened or where things were and often got differing answers and just sometimes felt confused about things. 

Overall, we thought it was a fantastic vacation. I would recommend it to any families with young kids. It’s a great cross between wonderful resort for kids and nice resort for adults. I truly loved it and so did the kids!

Great high-end resort that is awesome for kids, but super expensive merchandise.

Fantastic resort and fantastic experience!!! This was our third time at the Nick and it keeps on giving. We stayed at the Oceanfront Swim up Deck Queen Room - AMAZING room and the pool is gorgeous! 
ROOMS: Stunning! We traveled with 2 kids and had 2 full bathrooms - just perfect!
SERVICE: Superior!!!! Our butlers were STEPHANIE and DANIEL plus MOISES and DANIELLA helped us too. Absolutely wonderful people: professional, friendly, kind, sweet, hospitable, I can go on and on with additives to describe these amazing individuals.  LOVED THEM!
FOOD: it's just fine, we did not travel for Micheline restaurants.
NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT: OMG!!! AMAZING!!!! And it is all included!! We saw the TRIBE and it was spectacular!
AQUA NICK: GO, GO, GO!!! We all had a ball from a 7-year old to 50-year old! It was really fun!!
AQUA NICK CABANAS: Spectacular!!! They have ceiling fans and come with champaign and fruit and shade and peace! LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!
Just a wonderful resort and I know it is expensive but honestly you get what you pay for - you will NOT be disappointed at the Nick!
