Bali has no shortage of excellent hotels and villas in all categories. Como is high quality terms of room amenities (we stayed at the lagoon pool residence), food (great breakfast, and all food was high quality) lovely kids club with the best selection of children’s books I’ve seen at a kids club, and excellent gym and group classes (free). As always, staff are lovely and friendly. 
For all these aspects, it scores very well. The reason for 4 stars is while the beach access is there, the beach wasn’t the best while we were there. Compared to other hotels which are on the beach and where one can have dinner on the beach itself with their feet in the sand, this is not the case at Como. The building also feels “hotel” like and not so much like a villa/cottage style open setting. Lastly, and I think other reviews have mentioned this, there is a charge for hotel-filtered water at the beach club which seems odd at a luxury hotel. This is simply avoidable and also created unnecessary confusion as we had several bills where we were charged even more for branded water instead of the hotel water which staff reversed but frankly this experience was totally unnecessary in my view. 

Overall, a great choice if a good gym and good kids club are important. Otherwise you may find better value at Bali’s many other options.

Great gym and kids club

The photos don’t do this place justice.  Breakfast is at the Como beach club and you walk in and see an expansive view of Echo beach and the surf….breathtaking.  The resort is right on the beach and easy to walk along the beach to restaurants…..but beware of water running from the streets down to ocean.  Our room opened onto the pool which was amazing for a quick swim…..no sun on room deck but can swim across to lounges.  Gym is also fantastic as are the yoga classes.  Only downside is Canggu traffic so do yourself a favour and stay in resort or walk to places.

Lagoon rooms are worth it

I was staying at this hotel for 7 nights, and overall, it was a delightful experience. It started with a warm hearted welcome by the staff. I got upgraded to a one Bedroom residence. 

The rooms are exceptionally spacious, providing ample room to unwind. However on the negative side, I was missing the little extra. The rooms seem quite cold, missing some love for the detail. 

Spa facilities are top-notch, offering a serene environment and a variety of rejuvenating treatments. I truly enjoyed it. Special thanks to the amazing spa staff!

The gym is huge, well-equipped, catering to all fitness needs with modern equipment and a pleasant atmosphere. Really enjoyed working out there. Complementary yoga courses are great as well!

In general, the staff are incredibly friendly and always willing to help, making the stay very enjoyable. 

The surfing school is fantastic, great instruction and provides an excellent opportunity to learn or improve your surfing skills. Shane is an excellent surfing coach! 

All in all the hotel is very decent. 

However, there are a few areas that could be improved. The waiting time for breakfast can be extremely long, which is inconvenient if you’re in a hurry to start your day. An espresso took on avaerage up to 30 min. 

The buffet is quite small, missing a few options. Especially if you stay longer. However, an additional menu where you can order from, makes sure you’ll have a good start in the day.

The distance from some rooms to the lobby is quite lengthy, which might be a hassle, especially after a long day. 

The bar and restaurant closing already at 10 PM is a bit early, limiting late-night dining and socializing options.

My next stop was Como Hotel in Ubud for one night. After 7 nights at Como Canggu I would have appreciated a complementary transport to Como Ubud. But I was told that transport is only complimentary for a two night minimum stay at Como Ubud. Found the explanation a bit strange…Anyway.

Despite a few minor inconveniences, COMO Uma Canggu Hotel is a wonderful place to stay, especially if you appreciate spacious accommodations, excellent amenities, and a friendly atmosphere! Definitely the best luxury option in Canggu. Good value for money ratio!

Nice stay! A few minor improvements could be done but all in all rock-solid

The school holidays are finally here, and our kids have been anticipating the return of our fourth stay at the hotel, as it is their favorite in Bali. Immediately, the front office team recognized our three children and noticed how they had grown over the years. 
The kids went straight to the kids club, where our favorite staff member Ayu's familiar face was there to greet them. We truly enjoyed the facilities and beach club as well as recognized how many new shops and restaurants have surrounded the property since our last visit. The summer family vacation was again a success and the kids cannot wait for another visit during the holidays. 
I recommend the two-bedroom lagoon pool if you have kids, as it gives them direct access to the pool, so they can go on their own. Try the glow juice bar for great pre- and post-workout juices/shakes. It is an awesome place; see you soon.

Holiday School Break , another awesome visit to Como Uma Canggu

Como Uma was a beautiful stay. Our one bedroom residence was breathtaking. An amazing kids club and a good breakfast and fantastic beach club. The only downfalls which would deter my friends that I travelled with from returning again was the Wi-Fi. It would cut out when you would walk around the resort which I was surprised at for the amount that you pay for a room per night. Also the service down by the pool- it was hard to get waiter’s attention and even when you ordered, the food took awhile. Apart from that it was amazing and I will return.
