Security guards are a bunch of vultures that pounce on people who they don't feel belongs in the hotel. I run into a friend that I met on a scuba trip and wanted to show her my pics from the trip. She is from Thailand and the guards racially and sexually profiled her and refused to let her come to my room.  They totally disrespected and humiliated both us. If she would have been white or male she wouldn't have been stopped.

They have a policy of not letting any non-registered guests into guests rooms. I asked if I could register her now. Answer was no you must register everyone at time you check in.  

They were so insistent and disrespectful that felt i needed to check out and move to another hotel.  What hotel refuses to allow you to bring a guest to your room? I have never encountered it before. 
l told them i wouldbe writing a negative review about this and next day they messaged me this exact text:

"We are writing to you to strongly advise you to remove your negative comment on our Instagram account immediately.
We are about to send your passport details to the Kuta Police Station and Immigration Department to report on foreigner who are behaving badly."

So if you want to stay at a hotel that treats guest and particularly Asian women this badly then suit yourself.
If you choose to stay be prepared to find hair littered over your room and bathroom, a toilet that doesn't flush,  shower taps that are old and corroded which result in burns trying to get them off,  random things broken or falling apart,  a bathroom with a hole in ceiling allowing rain and other creatures to come in, a flooded toilet area after a shower. 

Bottom line,  I would not support a disrespectful and prejudiced hotel as this one.

Awesome Stay with Great Hospitality 

Best Resort to stay in Balli near Beach .

Food is awesome and The rooms were very clean and have dedicated balcony .

The restaurant has beautiful view of the beach. 

The resort is very safe and is just on the other side of beach

Looking for Peaceful Stay in Balli with Family near the Beach

An absolutely fabulous stay at Alamkulkul. A very warm welcome with birthday cake, card and towel art on the bed. The room was spacious, and clean with lots of complimentary toiletries.  Bottled water was left daily, as was clean towels. The pool was right outside our door (room 3801). The main pool was under going renovation due to previous complaints regarding the decking. The staff work tirelessly day and night to get it finished.  Unfortunately we left the day before it reopened but it did not impact our stay. We had breakfast at Papa's bar which was excellent and cost around £5. The 241 cocktails around the pool we very enjoyable and excellent value for money. We dined at The Legion Beach Hotel every evening as we enjoyed the food, ambient and entertainment there. The beach was right opposite for a Bintang and stunning sunset views, and the markets, massages and shopping was a few minutes walk. The staff were super friendly as was the guard who stopped the traffic every day to enable us to get across the road safely.  I would definitely recommend and hopefully return, thank you to everyone for a wonderful stay. :)

Alamkulkul fun and sun.

Fabulous accommodation, stayed in a Villa. Villa guest lounge was totally worth it, free snacks daily, fridge with cold drinks, tea and coffee. Staff very friendly and location was perfect. Choice of 2 pools with daily 2 for 1 cocktail specials.

Villa Life

We just spent 7 days here , with 2 other families . Yes the hotel is a little tired , but for the price , location, facilities and staff it was great .. staff were lovely , helped us organise  drivers as we had large group . Big choice of food with the breakfast buffet , poolside Bar , a lovely restaurant out the front , money exchange next door , across the road from the beach ,  and circle k 3 mins walk away and the best affordable day spa 2 doors down the street . We all went every day .. thank you alumkulkul for our stay 🙏
