Pool

Second time here.  Won't be the last. Great resort. Great location.  Great for families or couples.  Food is great. Can be a bit expensive but good quality.  Highly recommend this resort.  Plenty of outside dinning and bars if you prefer.  Good markets close by.

Excellent

Lovely hotel with very contemporary architecture.  Our room overlooked one of the four pools and was very comfortable and spacious.  Superb beach location with plenty of shade and empty sunbeds. The hotel provided a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.  Staff at the Kokulo Beach Club were incredibly helpful and friendly.  Particular mention to the staff who served and cooked our special meal which we enjoyed on the beach one evening.  The food was absolutely superb as was the service. We would definitely stay here again

Unique Hotel in quiet location

Overall a nice stay, but reception staff require more training.  Some of them were more interested having their heads in computers at desk, lacked the personal touch.  Don't know what would happen if you didn't have access to their APP which they requested you download at check in.  The check in process was very basic, more interested in showing me the APP than telling me where to have breakfast next morning.   Our first room had a very damp musty smell, next morning we were moved to a much better room.  Breakfast was good but staff were a bit slow in clearing tables, some days they looked like they were scrambling to cope.  Food could have been warmer , everyday the food in bain-marie was lukewarm, therefore I ordered omelette to be made to make sure I got warm food.   Bread station was good, lots of variety.  The cleaning staff were very friendly every morning we got an acknowledgment in the corridor, this made all the difference, maybe change the cleaning staff to reception area !!!  Visited Kokola beach restaurant, even though we booked through reception when we arrived they did not have our booking, not a good feeling.  The food was OK, a bit skimpy with Pad Thai , only 2 prawns, the Happy Hour was not good value, most expensive drinks on our visit & watered  down the drinks !!  The service was poor , more interested in customers having their Buffett meal.   In fact it was the poorest meal we had on our visit , much better restaurants outside hotel area, must try "The Fat Shark" just round the corner from hotel. The spa area was nice, had a few good massages, and good service.  So glad we checked out when we did as big groups of people arriving for a travel conference , then it definitely looked like we were invisible, it was all about them.  Overall it was a nice visit but definitely needs some improvement in the reception area, some days there were 5-6 people behind desk (all with their heads down in computers) not a good look, but still no personal touch.

Reception needs improvement

We stayed at this magnificent resort in Dec.  Sorry took so long to do review.  We have been coming to Thailand for over 10 years & this was the best resort ever.  The setting, the food, the staff (JP was a real gem), the service, the rooms  - we had a swim up pool room which was just awesome.  We are returning for 2 weeks this Dec & just cannot wait !! Its a modern fairytale resort & we are happy to stay here now year after year !!

Most incredible hotel

I could not fault La Vela one bit! Everything, from the rooms, to the pool, to the service was impeccable from the moment we arrived until checkout. We had such an incredible time in Khao Lak, and we are so grateful to the team at La Vela for making our stay extra special. 

The service was standout from the rest of the hotels we stayed at on our trip. The team were so attentive, kind and thoughtful. The champagne and cake for our anniversary was a beautiful touch and we are so grateful for that. We also received a complementary upgrade which we were very appreciative of. 

The pool is spectacular, there are three to choice from, as well as being allowed to use La flora (which we didn’t feel we needed to). The pools are spacious, and the adults only pool was quiet, and the happy hour specials were amazing! 

The location was superb. We were close to the night markets as well as many great restaurants and cafes. We loved the quietness of Khao Lak, no big loud groups  of party-goers, just either families or couples like us needing an unwinding relaxing holiday. 

I could not recommend La Vela or Khao Lak more, definitely put this one on your travel bucket list!
