Excellent!! I cannot fault this hotel in any way.. staff were wonderful and always made time for you, location was perfect right on the beach and a 24hr supermarket just across the road , rooms were comfortable and cleaned daily, priced well. We plan to return, maybe go for a bungalow next time

Worst experience ever. 
Pro:beach front location
Cons: not a single person greet us the whole stay. (Which is not a big deal)
the room was dirty, moldy and smelly. 
The WiFi didn’t work most of the time.
The ac didn’t work well and made it very uncountable and difficult to breath and stay
The food was below average (I just need an authentic local food but they ruined it)
The pool has so many broken tiles as well which was unsafe for visitors
The shower head was on the floor and rusty. Extremely unhygienic.
The manager was grumpy all the time and kept saying this is the “style of the room”
How could unhygienic become  the style?

Worst experience

The Weekender Resort in Lamai is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in all of Thailand, and receives the award for the worst beachfront property I've stayed globally, and I've never seen such embaressing customer service at any type of hospitality establishment.  

Environment - The atmosphere of the Weekender is appalling, from check in to check out I crossed multiple staff of which not a single person ever said hello.  I've never actually experienced this anywhere in Thailand until my stay at the Weekender.

Hotel Condition - A polite term for the condition of the hotel is run down, in reality most of us would consider it lazy and a "I just don't care approach".  The pool tiles can be lifted, I'd describe this as dangerous to children and older guests, the toilet and sink near the pool are literaly falling off the wall, use caution when in these public areas.

Breakfast - was overpriced, and odd ... an English breakfast that's 50-100% more expensive than anywhere else in town was served with a hot dog and called a sausage.

Wi Fi - does't work on a phone forget it, and they have a 'disclaimer in the room' to absolve themsevles of responsbility.

The Room - downright disgusting.  Don't let the pictures deceive you... first there is a reason they don't show a picture of the shower - that is because the only room in the entire property with an actual shower is the premier.  The room had a double taped hose with a shower head at the end, no way to hold it against the wall or actually take a shower.  Unfortunately becuase of this water contraption described as 'their style of shower by their manager' water went everywhere in the bathroom all the time.  The air conditioning in the room is nearly pointless, our room averaged 28C/82F during the day, you had to leave the room  or sweat it out.  The walls are paper thin, so you have the pleasure of listening to all your neighbors until the early morning, at least this can make for great entertainment.  The air conditioner was leaking, had stained the ceiling and appeared to be moldy, given the lack of care, I'd guess this is normal here.  You'll need to buy toilet paper, unless you plan to only use the hose, or enjoy that stuff you can put your fingers through.  The toilet had a constant smell - like that of sewage backing up - that just never went away.  Our outdoor deck was never cleaned in the 8 days we stayed and lastly was the bed arrangement, they don't provide a King Bed but instead a couple of small beds pushed together with linens too small that are constanly coming off by morning, you have the pleasure of laying on the nasty mattress.

The Service - dire, the complete inability to communicate was disgraceful, I attempted to come to a better resolution with the hotel staff, and the only resolution was to pay an almost full price for a new room, even with me providing solutions to at a minimum fix the shower problem (put up a shower holder, provide a simple room with shower like the booking says, or outright let's part ways and I'll take a refund), the staff looked at me as though I had requested them for a roundtrip ticket to the moon.  They had no possible idea on how to solve this problem other than for me to pay nearly full price for the only room "The Premier" that has a shower in it, they refused to agree to part ways - stating the booking was unrefundable, and would not provide a room with what the booking stated - working clean air con, a single large bed and a shower.  Pu the Manager, Eye and Agnes the front desk staff - were all completely incompetent, and their complete and inadequate ability to manage what could have been a simple solution in a nearly empty hotel was well and truly shocking.  Instead of trying to resolve this issue they simply disappeared and ignored the problem.  Also note that staff do not visit guests around the pool to ask if you'd like anything, so you best get up and ask if you're expecting anything at all.

In the end I left the hotel 3 nights early, gave up my room cost and moved on, there was simply no reason to stay here any longer where the staff, room and facilities were... miserable.

Pro Tip #1 - I figured out that if I placed the shower head in the drain and faced it towards the ceiling you could take an upside down shower!  Certainly a 1st for me, and an experience - one I hope I never have to go through again!   

Pro Tip #2 - If you've somehow found yourself here, go to Tesco, buy an insulated bag 79 baht, small cooler 89 baht, insulated cup 99 baht and you don't have to worry about the lack of service, treat yourself!

Pro Tip #3 - It took me 22 minutes to check out, 4 bell rings, and 4 staff involvement but I did remove my service charge out of sheer principal.

Best part of the filthy Weekender Resort, was leaving.

Im unsure if I would stay again here 

When we arrived the WiFi was down, which we understand happens but we came for work and could not access any internet for 2 days and no one was in any rush to fix it. It was patchy at best. The room we were in stank of eggs and we noted it to the staff member as soon as we walked in who laughed, agreed and then left. It smelt for days 

Rooms were lovely and big and comfy and the pool area was lovely. Big shout out to the massage ladies who did an amazing job!

Food was okay, pricy and wouldn’t eat here again.

Better hotels around

This is the worst stay in my hotel stays.  I live in the US and travel all over the world past 40 years for both work and pleasure.

I booked The Weekender Koh Samui for 5 nights/6 days in June 2024.  I was a little skeptical about the hotel own website at the beginning so that I used Agoda to book.
Check-in was smooth and took only a few minutes.  One of the front desk staff took us to the room.
The room #252 on the second floor was good size.   Most hotel amenities like a soap, shampoo, body wash, cotton swabs and shower cap are provided, though no tooth brushes.  Hotels in Asia usually provide tooth brushes without asking.   There are no tissue box, only toilet papers.  Two bottles of water, two sets of bath towels and two sets of hand towels are provided.  No face towels are provided.  Additionally two sets of larger towels are provided for beach/pool use.
Cons:  
1. All shower water goes to the bathroom floor due to the design failure.  Shower curtain is provided but it does not work at all.
            Because of flooded water in the bathroom, we asked the front reception to provide extra towels.
            They simply declined because one towel per customer/per day policy.  They said “more towels  
             more laundry cost”             
2. We asked a box of tissue and extra water bottles.  Declined.  We only asked extra water since they use water from ground (I believe it's from well).  This property is located Lamai Beach front, thus water from ground is very salty.  Nobody drinks tap water in Thailand, but it's uncomfortable to use salty water for brushing teeth or rinsing or to shower.
3. Internal telephone system doesn't work in my room.
4. First night we lost power.  We needed to ask a technician to fix it.
5. No ice provided.  We kindly asked to get ice at the reception, staff told us in unfriendly manner “you can buy ice at the restaurant”.  No effort was made.  Never experiences this kind of attitude in hospitality business in Thailand.  Where is “Land of Smile” ?
6. One of drinking glasses was not washed properly.   Red lipstick was on the glass from the previous guest.
7. Front staff tried to manage and gave us two options after we discussed about water leak in the bathroom and salty tap water.  First option: They will refund the rest of stay and we can move out.  Second option:  They will upgrade us to a villa where bathroom has a different design without leak, but with salty tap water.  We took the second option, but no help was provided. We had to do all our moves by ourselves.  The staff showed us the villa  just left.  Each villa stands very close (about 3 meter away) each other.  No privacy at all. Windows face to other villa's windows and front balcony/terrace faces to the main pathway to the beach.
8. I used the fitness center within the property.  When I entered, no air-conditioning and fans were on.  It was very hot inside. There is a staff at spa/fitness reception, but no offer/no word was made.  I turned it on by my self.
Pros:
1. Location
2. Breakfast in the restaurant is okay and services are better than other area within property.

We stayed 5 nights/6 days in the dark in many ways.
Most of staff at The Weekender Koh Samui don't have any positive attitude.  No service.  No smile. The hotel is really run down.   Don't choose this hotel...you have many options around.
