Please READ - We arrived at Bitacora late about 9:45 . On arrival we went to reception to check in our information regarding hotel rooms and things to do also wifi we’re kids parks were etc we’re not spoken about just a room band put on and off we went . 
Please be aware no kettle or ironing board and nothing in mini fridge for the money we paid. Not even a bottle of water bear in mind we arrived late . The was no food to give our hungry kids so we had to leave cases and leave hotel to adventure out to feed kids find a supermarket 
The pools open at 8 with entry with security only. If u leave you towels to go and eat breakfast they bag them up and put them in lost and found. They do leave a 25 mins warning slip on your beds prior to removing them. The pool areas are over crowed. The pools are not very deep and pool games etc are very poor like half the staff can’t be bothered.  Also sea salt water 
The food is ok. But could be better not enough selection for young children 
And other foods are tasteless 

Rooms we found pubic hair in our showers which we just rinsed because at this point we couldn’t be bothered

Staff you can only approach at reception or bar

Mother and the staff leave the gate open which a young baby ran out. Thankfully mum was in creshe and she noticed.  
1 member of staff was Over ratio in the kids club with too many children. She also was
On her phone half the time too. 

Entrainment at night is awful and repetitive 

FIRST AID. - our daughter fell and hurt her knee and needed assistance upon going to reception for a first aider we were told the hotel do not have a first aider and no staff were trained in first aid. Told us to go to hospital 

Good points -
Good location however and a nice hotel but problems that need fixed 
Lunch time bar option is chips chicken burgers and hamburgers etc which eating for lunch for 10 days isn’t good. 

Few members of staff we couldn’t fault were FRAN. AUGUSTUS (bar men ) , and the young girl that does kids mini diso

WONT RETURN

We have loved our stay at the spring bitacora and certainly will be returning. We have had nothing but a positive experience and while there are things that, in my opinion, could be improved it has been simply wonderful! It is definitely a family hotel and we have travelled as a family with our ten month old. The hotel itself is in a brilliant location with many shops and restaurants nearby. It is only a five minute walk to safari commercial where there are lovely shops and restaurants as well as the famous fountain. There are two nice beaches both only a 5-10 minute walk away. The staff were so lovely at the hotel and were so helpful. They were all really loving towards our baby and made a big fuss of him. There are onsite professional photographers who will offer to take your picture with no obligation to purchase but we couldn’t resist and ordered digital copies. 

The pools are lovely and clean and there’s certainly one for everyone. There is a main pool, children’s pool and an adult only pool as well as a pool on the rooftop at ‘up’ which is the adults only area. There are three big slides, as well as two smaller slides in the children’s pool. All pools are saltwater and we were surprised at how warm they were which was great! They open at 10am but people could go in prior. The sun starts to come out around 10.30am. The slides are manned with a lifeguard and there is a lifeguard who sits up the top near the adults only pool so isn’t as ‘present’ as other places we’ve stayed but still there nethertheless . We weren’t given a heads up about how towels work so on our first day we came back to our things gone whilst we were having breakfast and thought someone had pinched our beds. You can put towels down at 8am and there are plenty around. At 9am the lifeguard comes round and puts a ticket on your bed if you aren’t there and if it is still there within 15-20 minutes then he will bag your stuff up and then they are free for someone else so I thought it may be useful to give people the heads up of that. The adults only area has two pools, one a jacuzzi style pool and a normal pool. It says adults only but I’ve seen prams up here as well as children on the sun loungers. Whilst they aren’t allowed in the pool itself, I feel for an adult only area you wouldn’t expect to see any children here at all.

The hotel is spotless. Very modern and up to date with lots of facilities available. The cleaners do a brilliant job of cleaning the rooms also. We didn’t pay for a pool view room so ours overlooked the park and a derelict building but we had a beautiful view of americas so we were more than happy. The bed wasn’t two single pushed together which we were pleased about and the cot had a proper mattress which was great for our baby. The only thing I would say with the room is that it is a simple on/off switch to control the aircon which means you can’t control the temperature despite there being an old style thermostat it doesn’t make a difference and just stays the same. This made it difficult with a baby as we had to have it off or it got far too cold.  

There are lots of facilities in the hotel which mean you really don’t need to leave. Although we didn’t use most of them due to coming with a baby. There is a big park which is tucked away round the back of the hotel, however, we wouldn’t have known it was there if our room didn’t overlook it. There is also springly at night where children 4-12 can go from 7pm without an adult. The staff are lovely and let me and my 10 month old in one night for something for him to do. The photos looked amazing and I was desperate to take my little boy in, but in hindsight, there wasn’t a lot to do in there. Albeit it wasn’t for children his age but even for those in the 4-12 age bracket. Coming from the point of view of a childcare professional, it is very much a neglected, wasted space and that’s probably why it was empty most nights with the odd child in there on occasion.  It did have a PlayStation though. This could be a great space with some more things to do. There is also an arcade area too where you can swap tickets for prizes. 

We didn’t stay for the entertainment often but the white party and pink party were both incredible and a lot of effort is put into them including champagne arrival and a huge performance with talented singers and acrobatics. We were impressed. The mini disco wasn’t as good as a previous hotel we had stayed at though and although it was on for the typical 30 minutes, there’s no music on for the children in the lead up to it and only ran by one staff member. I think it could definitely be made more special for the kids but they seemed to enjoy it. Most of the entertainment is located inside in the fun bar but I feel they could make much more use of the outdoor area and stage so that it feels more ‘holiday’ instead of ‘haven’.  There is entertainment through the day but again just ran by one member of staff and around the big pool so you don’t know what’s going on unless you go there.

Everyone has a wrist band that is scanned when ordering food or drink regardless of whether you are half board and all inclusive. We did speak to someone who said they were allowed to swap their half board to lunch instead of dinner. We stayed all inclusive and I was amazed by how much variety there is during each meal time in the restaurant. Food was warm and really well presented with lovely finishing touches. The only downside to the restaurant and infact the only negative of the the whole holiday in general is the plates are always dirty. I would pick up 3-5 plates before finding one that was clean which was very frustrating. Each time the restaurant opens the staff greet you at the entrance which is a nice touch. They are attentive and very hardworking. Our favourite place to eat was the papayas bar by the pool for lunch as you can order on McDonald’s style screens and either eat there or take it to the pool. There is a huge choice. You can also order to the table. There are some things on the menu that can’t be ordered on the screens though and vice versa. 

On the day of checking out, you can ask to keep your room on until 4pm for an extra charge but this is obviously subject to availability. If not, a half an hour slot can be made for the shower room and can be done at 8am at reception the day of leaving. 

We have absolutely loved our stay and are already looking at booking for next summer. Thank you hotel spring bitacora!

Lived up to our expectations and more!

We have just returned from a week at the Spring hotel Bitacora and here’s an honest review.
The hotel was a major let down. 
We were looking forward too coming after seeing all the fantastic reviews, and after previously staying at the Vulcano many years ago I thought this hotel would be of similar standards.
Firstly the food here is extremely poor, the selection is poor and the children’s choices are very poor indeed. We ate out often due to this even though we were all inclusive. The snack bar was ok which was the only good thing regarding the food.
The hygiene inside the restaurant was not great, I witnessed on numerous times adults dropping utensils onto the floor and putting them back into the food! The waiter shouted at my son in the restaurant one afternoon which we had to speak to him about this was extremely uncalled for! Staff,not all but some are very rude.
Unfortunately a large number of guests let the hotel down and we’re acting inappropriately and we’re not being made accountable and this ruined our holiday and other families also said the same who we spoke too, there was a smell of drugs in the lifts often, unruly behaviour around the pool by adults, loud music was being played, young children were not being watched at the pool by drunken adults.
There was dirty/poo smeared inside the toilet walls near the restaurant & adults walking around at night in the fun bar with bare feet. The standards of a 4 star plus hotel are questionable when this kind of behaviour is going on.
The hotel has so much potential but the food and certain guests really let it down.

Would not return not a 4 star hotel

Recently returned from this hotel and found it lovely. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Ocean Room after only paying for standard, so we had a fabulous large terrace with a lounger and shower. This was fantastic and was well used with a small child who liked to relax out of the sun in the room in the afternoons, allowing us to sunbathe away from the chaos of the pool! 
The hotel was very clean, there is constantly some sort of cleaning going on, whether that's round the pool area or in the foyer area. We had no experience of any sickness bug mentioned in previous reviews, we had no 'Bed Bugs' as again previously mentioned (I checked all beds when we arrived!!). The only thing we did have was a few cockroaches that appeared in the room overnight but this isn't any fault of the hotel. Food was generally good, breakfast and lunch (both pool bar and buffet are great!) however evening food sometimes we struggled as it is alot of fish, and for non fish eaters found this tricky sometimes.
99% of staff are brilliant, receptionists, cleaners, waiters were all lovely and very friendly. The maids were all really nice and always said hello. There was one individual lady in the pool bar serving food which we found quite rude. She seemed to ignore us when waiting to order food for around 30 minutes and served other people who had there orders took and food received after arriving after us, despite us trying to flag her down multiple times. But apart from her we found all other staff very friendly and helpful.
Animation team are good and are great with the kids, always tried to get everyone involved. Entertainment was generally good, although in the space of a few days we saw 3 acrobatic shows, would have been good to see something different. 

Now the things that let it down for us was other guests. We found alot of guests quite selfish on the sunbed front. They would sit on the beds until 10am when the lifeguard stops removing towels and then disappear for the day? If you know your going out for the day why reserve a sunbed around the children's pool where you know these beds are sought after by people with small children?
On one occasion we left our sunbed to go to lunch and came back to a man just led on our towels?!
At the buffet we witnessed multiple people (Children AND adults) picking up food using their hands instead of the tongs! Put us off eating certain foods due to not knowing where there hands had been!
One of the days whilst we were there someone had a poo in the children's pool, so it closed, then someone else had one in the family pool the same day, closing both pools!
Some individuals seem to let their children fun feral, smashing cups up in the park, making mess and causing havoc. We frequently sat in the children's club with our young son to allow him to use soft play and some of the language we heard coming from other children (no older than 8 years old) was disgusting and not language which should be coming from a child, especially when there are younger children around.

Overall the hotel was fabulous and we enjoyed our stay there and would stay again if we visit Tenerife again.

Lovely hotel but let down by some guests

We stayed here in June 24 for two weeks, this is our second visit to the Bitacora in Las Americas. The hotel has been renovated since our last visit, the room I had was lovely, clean & fresh. Housekeeping came regularly to tidy the room, give fresh towels and fresh bed sheets. The pool area is lovely with plenty of loungers, regardless of time, we could always find available loungers around the pool. The usual early morning Brits out reserving their loungers on the front row, who don’t want to be splashed or don’t turn up. The hotel does remove towels if nobody claims them by 9.30am however, this needs to happen in the afternoon too; too many people keep them all day and don’t use them. We went half board, the breakfast was lovely always the same things but plenty of variety. Lunch and Dinner menu are terrible, we only ate once for dinner and Lunch options not great and it costs €5 to change dinner to lunch. We ate at the pool bar several times, toasties are good, hot dogs & chips standard; always busy and queued. Lifts can be a nightmare, being on the 8th floor, we waited several times for over 4 minutes waiting on lifts. The main pool was shut twice on our visit, but still other pools were open. The entertainers were great around the pool and with the children, loads of activities and kids enjoyed playing the games with them. Reception staff were friendly, maids were always polite & pleasant. The pool bar staff were 50/50 at times depending on how “stressed” they were. Overall it was still a really nice place to be but some minor changes would really in my opinion make it perfect.

Pleasant and relaxing!
